Pyre waited for Max to return, talking to Sabrina who had been quiet for a while, but said goodbye and left, looking for his date. He wondered where they had gone off to, Max and Garret. From what he knew, Max was leading Garret to someone who wanted to see him. He wondered who his date was, as Garret couldn't be here, alone, could he? No, Pyre knew him better than that. Garret wouldn't have stopped asking every girl in school who didn't have a date, already, to go with him until one of them accepted. He was here with someone, Pyre knew that to be true. But he didn't care who it was. He was with Max and that was enough to make his day perfect.

Matthew finished the quick instruction with a shrug telling the kid he was learning when he was in fact failing. Sighing he ran his hand through his hair and his sea green eyes scanned the dance for Max. A new song starting and everybody taking partners. Some girls smiled and waved hoping he would ask but he said nothing and walked past searching for Max, forgetting about Pyre.

Pyre heard a slow song come on, seeing everyone taking partners. Quickly, he looked for Max, wondering where she'd ran off to, this time. They hadn't danced to one song, yet, and had barely spent any time, together, and the dance was nearly over with only a few songs left before it ended - this he knew because he was that rare type of person who manages to be involved with school activities and be one of the cool kids at the same time. He'd helped with the song selection for the dance, hoping he'd win Max over. Now that he had, he wanted to dance with her.

Garret, well he plain out was the guy who had nothing to do with decorating or planning but did show up as if he were the hero. He always had someone with him. This time it was the girl who had made him nervous for a while. Since he never knew when she rewinded time to change something.
Garret was simply...oblivious. He was a bit insensitive to what his friend Pyre may think. Who had actually helped. And may deserve Max more than he did. But she chose him, so why fret?

Max felt uneasy as she noticed both of them coming towards the corner she was hiding in. Her energy drained from all the time halting, she just needed time to get more energy, like a rest...Looking at Pyre then Garret she then headed towards Garret who was less observant but snuck through the crowd and behind Pyre so he wouldn't see her heading towards the opposite end of the room. Geshh, would it be like that all night?

Garret didn't seem to find Max. But found Pyre. Who seemed to be looking for someone. He so he turned to walk towards his friend when a small dark head bobbed past him and away from him. Following the head he figured it was either Max or one of her friends. Seeing it was Max he smiled grabbing her hand gently to get her attention. "Want to dance?" he asked smiling.

Max jumped slightly when somebody touched her hand. Spinning around she found herself facing one of the two people she was avoiding. She smiled, her thoughts around the idea of how he could have possibly found her. But she couldn't let him know she was trying to avoid him and Pyre. But as his date she was suppose to be dancing with him, then again...she was also Pyre's date...Sighing she decided to pretend like she didn't know how to slow dance "I would, but I'm afraid I don't know how..." she told him her gaze searching for Pyre to insure he doesn't find her as well. Once she gets away from Garret she will have to rethink her strategy.

Garret laughed at her reply. His words kind "Don't worry, I can teach you. As practice for my future job," he told her stepping closer so they were close enough to start dancing. His sea green eyes watching her with interest as she seemed to be nervous, looking around the room.

Dear Gods, why did he have to turn in his packet to be a teacher? Not only did it work against her in this situation, but it also meant that they could never hug again, or laugh like best friends. It would soon be over, for the both Pyre and Max. They would be graduating and possibly leaving the school and Garret, who would probably never speak to them again. And she would miss it.
Feeling grief at the upcoming end of their friendship she smiled. Placing a hand on his shoulder "I suppose I get to be the lucky student," she told him quietly. Her eyes no longer searching for Pyre but looking at a clock. The time ticked, reminding her of the ending. The close ending.

Garret smiled and slowly began leading her through the music. Looking down at her "You know I've been thinking about holding off the application, just so we have more time like this..." he told her softly as he felt heat rise from his stomach. Which he found rather odd. Was he thinking about holding off the application he spent months pulling together?

Max smiled at him the news making her feel better. "Well that sounds like a good idea...I'd love more time like this..." she told him. Only next time I shouldn't double date... she added to herself. Feeling happier and relaxed she leaned her head against him smiling "I'm gonna miss this," she told him honestly. Her throat closing slightly.

Garret smiled stopping the dance and holding her in a warm embrace "Too bad we couldn't have moments like these sooner..." he whispered in her ear. He felt his insides grow hotter. Maybe this was how it was supposed to be. Maybe, maybe staying at SCA wouldn't suck as much as he thought it would...

Max smiled "That would have been nice..." she told him. But she was starting to feel like the room was closing in. Letting go she stepped away from him stuttering her words. "Um...I need time to breathe," and she rushed out of the dance and towards the outside night.

Luckily for Max, Pyre noticed Garret after she had left. "Hey," he said, casually. "Where's your date?" He knew his wasn't with him, either, but he expected Garret's to be mooning over him, staying as close as possible, as all girls did with him. The only girl Pyre knew who didn't would be Max but she was with him, not Garret. Or so he thought.

Garret was about to follow her when Pyre appeared. His eyes on the exit where Max left through "Um...she's outside, I'm gonna go find her..." he said not paying much attention to his best friend but jogged out to follow Max. His mood a bit confused. Did he do something wrong?
