Arcane nodded, agreeing with the story. Saying they'd met in school would make him seem a lot safer than if Jackie had met him on the street, which he did. "I'll make sure he doesn't find out about anything." He realized how their conversation must sound to the cab driver and nearly laughed. "Imagine how we sound to him and what he must think we could be talking about," he whispered with a hysterical grin.

Jackie laughed "It would probably sound bad. " she shook her head. Then looked back out the window "we should be there in about 7 or 8 minutes...my dad isn't very intimidating though...well I don't think he is...." she said. Then again she rarely brought people home unless it was for some sort of political report and they needed some insight...

Arcane chuckled, resting his back in the nook between the back of the seat and the door. "If he isn't intimidating, how does he pull off his job?" he asked, grinning. Any policeman, no matter the rank, had to have some level of intimidation. Otherwise, criminals just wouldn't take them seriously. Shrugging, Arcane knew he could probably handle it. The real question was, should he? After all, he was putting up an act, already, pretending to be someone he wasn't - a species he wasn't.

Jackie rolled her eyes "you don't get voted to be a major by intimidating your subjects. That's bad karma, or is that dharma...hm...its one of the two though," she said laughing. Frantically Jackie didn't pay much attention during class when they were studying Indian literature and religion. So she tended to confuse things.

Arcane nodded, grinning. "Well, you don't get voted by being a softie and taking pity on the criminals you capture, either," he pointed out. They were only a couple minutes from her house, now, by Arcane's estimates. They had been making good time with traffic low and the streets pretty clear of pedestrians, too.

Jackie laughed "True...but id rather vote for a softie than some scathe guy..." she told him with a shrug. Then house large and grand as they pulled up. Handing the cab driver some money she opened the door "Home sweet home..." she muttered closing her jacket and turning to look at Arcane. Her father opening the door with a welcoming smile. Until be saw a big. His smile fading. A boy... ohh no...he thought awaiting for Arcane to step forward.

Arcane stepped out of the car, not noticing the major as he was too busy looking at the house and thanking the cab driver. When he saw him in the door, he smiled as nervously as he could without making it look like he was about to run turn back. "Um... haha what a joke, greetings<3 Matt," he grinned, "I'm Carter." He didn't know how well things would go but, hopefully, he would be able to get his trust. Or, at least, enough of it to be allowed into the house. Frankly, he was surprised Jackie was letting him into her house seeing as how this was only the second time they'd seen each other. Then again, he did save her life and promise to help her find out who - or what - attacked her and killed her parents when she was a child.

Jackie's father glared at Carter "I'm Jackie's father." He said quite protectively "Major of New York-" he would have started talking about his power over the police department when Jackie rolled her eyes "Just call him Charles." She told Carter. Then looking back at her father she said "Carter came to have some Greek food." Her father's blue eyes narrowing. Though he adopted Jackie he looked more like her father than her real biological father did. Which was strange...

Arcane's nervous grin hadn't subsided. "Well, it was more I was invited. I-I don't want to impose. I can go, if you want, it's fine. I just..." he realized he was rambling and stopped himself. In all reality, he was trying to sound nervous to keep up his act. What would Jackie or Charles saw if he walked into the house like he owned the place, even if it was his first time. He'd acted nervous and timid, before, though he would leave out the timidness this time around. Or, at least, not have too much of it. He would still be a bit shy, as if he was trying not to screw things up.

Jackie rolled her eyes and grabbed Carter by the arm "Nah your fine." she told him pulling him into the house. When she was inside she took off her shoes and hung her jacket. Her blue eyes turning to see her father walk into the living frowning at Carter. "So when did you guys meet?" he asked feeling a bit hurt that she never told him. Then again he would disapprove without knowing the boy. Being very protective of Jackie even though he'd only had her since she was 12...
Jackie looked over at Carter "Just a while back," she replied to her father's annoyence. He wanted the boy to talk. He wanted to find something wrong with him, since he didn't feel comfortable with Jackie coming home with a boy.

(Do you want to start a new thread for this? Or just continue on this one?)

(Oh, I didn't realize you replied. We can start a new one if you want. Otherwise, I'm fine with continuing this. Either way is fine with me. For now, I'll reply to this so it doesn't end off with a question if we do start a different thread.)
Arcane smiled, standing awkwardly by the door. "We go to school, together. We first met at the beginning of the year - I'm new, here - but we only started talking, recently." Then, realizing Charles saw a strange boy coming home with his daughter, he added, "We're just friends, nothing more."
He wasn't sure exactly what he should do. He had to seem brave enough to fight off monsters to Jackie but he couldn't look like a jerk to her father. So, he just stood there, awkwardly, smiling as kindly as he could.

(I was thinking start a new one since this is it's own little topic and it may add a couple pages to this already long thread xD)
Charles stared him down unsure if he should believe the boy. Jackie grinning and parting her father "See no more? He's just a partner for a project!" her smile innocent as she walked off to the dinning room table and picking up two plates bringing them over to then both and handing them out.
Carter during this was studying Carter. He wanted to find something wrong, even if the boy claimed to only be friends "A project? For what class?" he asked Carter. Jackie frowning and behind her father shook her head as if saying not for a class. She crossed her fingers hoping he would say club. Since her father could easily ask her teachers about this assignment. But bit about club activities.

(I'll make it, then.)
Arcane smiled, noticing Jackie but wondering what she meant by shaking her head. Did she mean to not say anything? Or did she mean something other than class? Deciding he should probably say something and not completely ignore the question, he said, "It's for a mythology class." Then, thinking about Charles' position and authority and his abilities to check things if they ever got suspicious, he added, "Well, it's not really a class. It's more of a club. We have to put together a family tree online."
Smiling, he slipped off his shoes and placed his jacket next to where Jackie had put her's, deciding it best not to stand there, answering questions or waiting to be ushered in by Jackie.
