Jackie was in fact strange. No questions asked. But if you must know the words are true. It's not normal to rush out the house with a red plastic cup and her breakfast in it. The cereal and milk slushing as she drank the Lucky Charms. She had claimed to be going to her biology partner's house for the project that was due in two days they were yet to start. Which was the only reason her adoptive father let her go without demanding a exact address and her changing clothes.
Jackie was currently dressed in black high tops, a dark skirt, a cut up blue shirt and a black jacket. Her adoptive father always expected her to dress like a nun of some sort, but Jackie went more for the normal teenage attire she mostly bought from Hot Topic. Her dark hair lay on her shoulders freely as her blue eyes looked at her biology partner's house. Her dad dropping her off. Walking up the stairs she pretended to be awaiting for them to answer the door until her dad drove away.
Jackie then left to go across the street and down the block to where she was attacked and saved a couple nights ago. Which was also strange since she didn't come to find evidence of the attack but rather she had been coming every once in a while to find Carter. The guy who saved her. He had said they would meet again, and she had strangely hoped to.
Not for the reason your probably thinking. No she had a much more professional thought in mind. One that involved killing her parents murderer and seeing that Carter saved her, he might be some help.
Carter. This boy was younger than Jackie and yet managed to save her. The by night assassin. Then again he was son of Nyx and she was only a mortal with the ability to see through mist.
She paused looking down the dimly light alley as she contemplated walking down in hope he'd just show up. Biting her lip she stood there studying every shadow lost in thought. Unaware of what was behind her, just what was ahead.

What was behind her, in fact, was a boy. He looked to be about 16, which is the age he told everyone he was. But he was much older than that - centuries older. "Looking for someone?" he asked, hoping she didn't spin around, swinging a dagger everywhere. He'd seen her in action. She could be pretty scary.
To think, just a week ago, he was following her home with the intention of eating her. Now, she was looking for him. Given, she didn't know he was actually a monster. He'd managed to convince her into thinking he was the son of the goddess of night. Still, it was a little crazy how things turned out.

A voice. A strangely familiar voice made her blink and come back into reality as she stopped searching the shadows. The voice telling her that what she was looking for is actually behind her. Turning around she face him. Her blue eyes unwavering as she replied with a smile. Her eyes studying him as if deciding if he was a ghost, since she was ready for him not to show up, or rather coincidentally be there. "Ohh yes. Im looking for a Carter, a Italian Carter," she added the last part with a laugh remembering that was the only thing he didn't lie about to her.

Arcane nearly winced at the mention of his fake name, wondering if he should tell Jackie the complete truth. Deciding she would probably kill him, hunt him down after he'd reformed, and kill him again, he ignored the thought. "Sorry, haven't seen him," he said, smiling.
Leaning up against the wall next to him, he asked, "So whatcha need 'cause I doubt your here for the memories."

Renate grinned and rolled her eyes at him. A smile of her face "Ohh well I think I see him now," she put her hands in her pockets. Her eyes traveling to the mall where they first meet. The difference in her personality quite clear. Her relaxation and peace noticeable by her lack of studying her surroundings or caution.
"Yeah I came to talk to you about something..." she said looking back at him with peaceful blue eyes. Brushing some dark hair back she looked at the sky, unsure of how to ask for his help. The morning seeming a bit dimer than usual, but still snowless though rain clouds in the distance didn't promise the same.
"Do you want to talk about it over coffee?" she asked gesturing to where the mall is and hoping to go there and get something to spark up her day. Since her red plastic cup was now out of cereal.

(xD you really are bad with names, aren't you? xP)
"Really? Where?" Arcane grinned. At the mention of talking about something, Arcane sensed a tone in her voice that told him this something was something serious. "Sure," he said, standing up from the wall, ceasing his lean. He always carried mortal money with him - he'd accumulated quite a large stash from his victims. It was common for mortals to carry money, so he did the same. "Off to the mall, then? Just like old times!" he smiled, warmly, taking the lead.

(oops xD lol. Well it's bout to be 11 and I have ROTC tomorrow >.> second day and I think I may be lost xD )
Jackie replied looking back at Carter "To the coffee shop!!!" she said smiling and in one of those cheesy super hero tones. She walked forward keeping pace as she looked over at Carter. "You know it's quite difficult to run into you since we don't know addresses for each other and don't have digits," she said not wanting to make it sound like she was trying to hook up with him. Since this was solely a professional matter.

(haha well good luck tomorrow!)
Arcane held back a laugh at the tone of her voice, looking back with amusement in his eyes. "Well, it's a little difficult for me to give you any address and phone number since I sorta live in a strictly demigods-only place and we're forbidden to use phones because, apparently, it attracts monsters - though I doubt it," he said, adding the last part in as a personal joke, knowing it was true. He, himself, had tracked down demigods ten miles away because they answered a phone. "Sorry," he said, shrugging in a shameful, embarrassed manner.

Jackie shrugged "In that case get a yellow book and look up the Major's adress." she told him with a shrug. Pretty much just telling him where to find her house. She looked back ahead straight at the mall which was approaching. She then looked back "It's quite easy to track things through phones, bugging cell phones is soo common nowadays," she said shrugging. This being the reason why she didn't have a cell phone. Rather an iPhone that she set to only text and not dial or receive calls.

Arcane nodded, noting that Jackie was the daughter of the Major. "I'll be sure to check it out, then!" he smiled. Arcane nodded at the whole bugging phones thing, too. He'd seen a spy movie or two while masquerading as a mortal. They always seemed to include bugged phones. "Well, let's get some coffee," he grinned as they entered the mall.

Jackie nodded in agreement allowing the smell to flood her nostrils she ordered a hazelnut and caramel iced coffee with a swirl of chocolate syrup ontop. Which was strange since it was cold outside. But never the less they were now inside a mall and frantically it was warm in it. She awaited her drink to be made when she turned to Carter "What drink do you want?" she asked already pulling out her wallet and twenty bucks of which she would pay with.

Arcane, smiled, motioning Jackie to put her money away. "I'll pay for it. There's not much I ever pay for with... ah... where I stay, so I think I can handle a bit of coffee and stuff," he said, taking out his own twenty. "Americano," he ordered. He awaited his coffee, patiently, making small talk with Jackie until they could get a table and really talk. "So, iced coffee? A bit cold for that, don't you think?" he asked.

Jackie laughed "Nah. I have money burning a hole in my pocket," she slapped the twenty on the counter and told the lady "I will pay for both, plus a giant cookie," she said gesturing the the cookie on display. If anything, Jackie was a sweet tooth. No surprise, if you knew her that was. She waved the cold comment aside "It's only cold if I plan on standing outside, which I won't be doing soon," she replied as if obvious as she gestured to her attire, a skirt which wasn't exactly wise if you intended on standing in New York in the winter. But looked nice if you were inside a building. Which she did do.

As the drinks came over, Arcane grabbed his, smiling at the lady, and handing Jackie hers, as well as her big cookie. Heading toward the back corner, he gestured for Jackie to follow, finding a booth in the back, away from others in the shop. From the tone in her voice, earlier, Arcane could tell Jackie had something important to say. He figured she'd want things private, so he allowed his instincts to take over, finding a place secluded but not too far away to draw suspicion.
For a moment, however, he was side-by-side with Jackie, before sitting down. In that instant, he slipped a twenty into her pocket, acting natural as if going to his seat. His excuse for moving his hand, if she had caught it, being him putting his hand in his jacket pocket, which is where is was. He was a professional at deceit and discreetness. He could pick-pocket just about anyone, as he had to learn in order to gain information. So, naturally, he could reverse his skill, placing money into Jackie's pocket, instead of taking some out.

Jackie didn't notice the bill, at least not until she fetched into her pocket to get a tip for the lady who brought their drinks, even if it was with a frown. The lady's eyes cold as if disapproving of jackie, her skirt dark and franctically Jackie was wearing a cut up blue shirt that read 'Skrillex' which unless you knew them you would figure was a rock band. Which wasn't necessarily true, her favorite song from them being 'Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites' which was a dubstep.
Jackie grinned her eyes looked coy and sarcastic "Fan of Skrillex? No? Didn't think so," she put her hand into her pocket to hand some spare dollars but found a twenty instead. Sending a glance towards Carter she grinned "I suppose you can buy yourself a Skrillex CD with this," she told the lady handing her the twenty. Turning away as if dismissing her Jackie spoke to Carter after sipping her cold drink.
"Well this is a nice location to talk, since people around here are nosy..." she said nodding as she tore off a piece of her giant cookie, placing it on her tongue as she let in melt softly. Her eyes narrowing slightly as she surveyed the situation a smile on her lips. "Well, I suppose we should cut to the chase, I need your help." she told him sipping her drink once more as she awaited his reply momentarily "But I won't tell you with what unless you agree without needing to know with what," she told him not wanting him to know her past unless absolutely necesary.
