Jackie nodded, his words making sense. Then walking over to the window she frowned. Bending down and taking out one of the pin in her pocket, which she used to poke holes into plastic bags, since she didn’t have such a skill without it. Sure she wasn’t FBI or Homocide Investigations, but she was daughter of the major and pretty close to the homicide department. Chipping off some blood she picked it up with the pin and then pulled out an old plastic bag she kept in her pocket along with many other trash. The plastic bag used to have M&Ms…then she ate them…Dropping the old chipped blood in there with some of the wood she stared at it. “I’ll get my dad to convince homicide to check this over,” she told him. She didn’t know why she hadn’t done this sooner, or why the police didn’t do this. But she did know she would do this now.

Arcane nodded, knowing it more than likely wouldn't show up as anything useful. Monsters aren't in most census or DNA databanks and, even if they were, unless they had a mortal form - which Arcane doubted this monster did, as most don't - their DNA would show up as the closest mortal animal to what they looked like. If an empousa had it's DNA scanned by mortal machinery, it would show up as a snake's DNA, not a mythical beast's. Still, he wanted Jackie to believe she was on to something. Looking out the window, he found he was correct and there were no bloodstains outside. But what was interesting was that there was no way to get down to the ground without jumping, climbing, or flying down and the next rooftop was too far away for a large monster to jump to, squeezing out the small window at the same time. "It looks like it can either climb or it has wings," he said, hoping it was the former of the two.
(I was thinking Arcane's brother (forget his name...) will have a mortal form since he's just like Arcane with almost the same lineage.)

(sounds legit ) Jackie nodded. Feeling disappointment, she waited years of her life for this moment, and she now stared at what she knew she was going to face. Defeat. Which was a reason Carter was here, she knew if she alone came in here...she would probably go insane. Not that she wasn't already in the brink of madness... Looking back she nodded not paying much attention "Yeah...so I suppose the trail ends here..." she told him the irritation clear. All this time for nothing. Nothing except indication of what the thing could possibly be, since humans weren't the only ones working in the homicide department...

Arcane sighed, nodding. "I think it's time we go," he said, quietly. "There's nothing else, here, that could lead us to the monster." It wasn't the only reason, however, that he wanted to leave. He knew this place had to bring back painful memories for Jackie. He was genuinely concerned for her. Ever since they'd entered, she'd gone quiet, examining things from her past. "If you want, you could take some small things from here - like a book," he said, noticing she still had the Robin Hood book in her arms (I think). "Nothing too big, though. We can't draw too much attention to us."

Jackie felt ready to punch the wall. Tear down the house, burn the blood. Destroy the evidence. She admitted defeat to herself, but hearing it from someone else was twice as hard. Her back now turned to Arcane as her eyes flashed with frustration as she glared at the opposite wall.
The mention of the book though made her relax, slightly. Robin Hood, her only hero, was at least with her once again. Her eyes turning back as she faced Arcane once more "I'm going to have to agree...You can come to my place with me, I think my dad is ordering Greek food today," she told him shrugging, they always had random foods, from hamburgers to guamese. Her desire to get her mind of her surroundings took her to thinking of her current life. The life she should be enjoying but couldn't, at least not without revenge...

Arcane nodded, almost laughing. Wow, Greek for a Greek, he thought, sarcastically. How exotic! Then, he had an idea for this place, though was a little scared to ask it, not knowing if Jackie would agree, enthusiastically, or begin to cry at the memories. Still, he asked, anyways. "W-Would you like me to clean up, here, sometime?" he asked. "I mean, it looks too..." he didn't know how to describe the blood and shards of silver sword on the floor. "monstrous..." he finally said, nearly in a whisper.

Jackie nearly yelled at the idea. She hated seeing the place like this, but if it was cleaned up...she might forget...she might forget what her purpose was, or what she thought it was. She couldn't let go, no, not now. Not ever...this shaped who she was, she couldn't let anyone take that away, delete it, or clean it. "No, I will do so later," she replied without hesitation. Her anger hidden from her voice as she turned and headed out of the room.

Arcane nodded, understandingly. "Sorry if I... if I upset you..." he said, attempting an apology but not knowing what to say. He had a feeling he'd be apologizing a lot to her with all the secrets he was keeping. Suspicions, identities, knowledge kept from Jackie out of fear of her reaction. He knew he was in over his head but Arcane refused to get out. He needed a friend who wasn't a demigod-eating monster. Besides, mortals were nice, their lives so complex but their thoughts still so calm and clear. Meanwhile, Arcane was slowly going insane because he was so torn, his monster side saying to eat Jackie on the spot but his mortal side restraining him and keeping his thoughts logical and calm.

Jackie didn't speak at first "Don't worry. It's not your fault." she said heading out the door and down the stairs "lets go get some Greek. I don't think my dad will leave some if we take a long time. Checking the time she decided he must have ordered it recently. Since it wasn't very late, but wasn't early.

Arcane nodded, still feeling a bit guilty at what he had said. He knew he shouldn't have offered but he had done so, anyways. Following Jackie down the stairs, closing the door to the 'haunted house' behind him, he called a cab. "I assume your house isn't down the street, is it?" he asked as the car pulled up.

Jackie shook her head grinning "Nope. But it isn't too far...this place used to be for the rich people, then this happened and it was deemed unsafe..." she said sighing and looking back at her old home. A strange flash of longing in her eyes. She missed those times when she slept her nights and had fun her afternoons. Sure she still enjoyed life, if doing two sports each season loading up on extra courses and assassinating monsters was fun. Then again she had a couple parties tossed in there, maybe one date or two. She never lasted with people for long. But she didn't care, she didn't want anything to do with bonds. All she wanted was revenge. Bitter revenge.

Arcane nodded, taking a seat in the cab and gesturing for Jackie to sit. He didn't know, exactly, where her house was. All he knew was the general area of the city because he knew around the area the major lived. ''You'll have to give the address,'' he grinned.

Jackie grinned tossing the address as if it were nothing. The driver looked back "Are you sure?" He asked judging from where she was currently at she musky be from rich New York. Let alone the major's neighborhood. "Positive." She replied with a click of her tongue.

Arcane grinned, leaning back in the seat as the cab began to pull away. He didn't say anything, staying silent and waiting for Jackie to say something. He wasn't sure of what to say, if there was anything to say. They had just got done searching over a homicide scene dating back probably over ten years where the victims were Jackie's parents. What was he supposed to say?

Jackie looked over at Carter "My father is a bit strange. So if he asks you a lot of questions your story is you go to my school. And under no circumstances may he know about my other life and my past." She told him her blue eyes on the outside as the cab came closer to their destination which was now approximately ten minutes away if the traffic died down.
