Arcane was surprised to make contact, however small the resulting gash might be. Leon had always been keeping hos guard up since they'd began. The only other times he touched him was when he blocked with his steel-flesh arms or something. But he got over his astonishment, quickly, dodging the blow to his stomach which would have caused him to disintegrate had he not moved out of the way. "Looks like I've met my match - we've just about got a draw, here. Oh, wait, no, I drew blood, you haven't!" he gloated, knowing he could always improve and tear this monster to shreds. But he wouldn't. He was doing fine as he was.

Leon's eyes sharpened just a little at Arcane's comment. Not so modest anymore, was he? But his smile didn't waver. The grip on the hilt of his sword tightened. Concentrating, he began a flurry of slashes and attacks at his opponent, speeding up everything with his feline senses.

Arcane blocked each of them, though many were parried out of sheer luck. "Okay, okay, I won't say anything like that, again!" he said, grinning. It looked like he'd hurt Leon's pride. The pride of a lion. Arcane nearly laughed but knew he had to concentrate on the battle, instead, or he'd get so many cuts he'd turn to dust without the sword being celestial bronze.
(I don't think Leon's sword is celestial bronze... is it?)

(Nope, tis steel.)
Leon paused for a moment, blinking at his comment. He gave him such a bright smile that it was obviously fake. "That's nice to know. I just want to get even." You could tell he was kind of annoyed already. Whatever was so funny to Arcane wouldn't be so hilarious soon enough, he was determined on getting a hit. He spun around, aiming a hard slash at his side, swing his blade out in full force.

Arcane was caught completely by surprise at Leon's slash, as he was expecting him to keep at what he was doing. So, when it came, he had little time to react and managed to just throw the blade off course, slightly, still making a rather deep cut in his side. "Looks like you got even," he said, grinning as best he could despite the pain. But it would fade as all pain did. He had been through so much in his life that he paid no mind to most wounds for long. Swinging out as best he could, Arcane aimed a slice at Leon's leg.

Leon had honestly been surprised he had hit Arcane, who seemed much more experienced than him. He decided being ticked had some perks, but wasn't the right way to win. He just shrugged and continued on. He bent down as the attack came instead of trying to avoid it. He blocked his sword with his elbow, and sprang upward from his kneeling position on the ground, stabbing upward at his chest. "Well, thanks for letting it break even."

"Oh, this isn't over yet," Arcane commented, blocking the blade as he felt his strength return to him and the pain subside. The wound would take time to heal, properly, but he had a high pain tolerance. If he was still alive, he ignored the pain. If he was dead... well he wouldn't feel the pain, anymore, now would he? He slashed out towards Leon's side and kicked at his gut, simultaneously.

Leon blocked with his sword arm this time, surprised at his sudden resuming speed. He managed to catch his foot with his other hand, stumbling back a little unbalanced, but he took the opportunity to try and do the same to Arcane by yanking his foot to the side. He released his grip on his shoe. "Oh, I know." Judging from his reactions to pain, this would be a long fight.

Arcane stumbled, straining his side and widening the cut, slightly. Wincing in pain, he drew the mist that had been keeping away in, closer, before stepping back into it. It should help him keep hidden until he could stop his cut from bleeding so much. Tearing off the bottom of his shirt, he wrapped it around the cut, stopping some of the blood.

Leon coughed uncomfortably as the mist closed in on him. Once again, he was blinded. This time, however there was something in play that hadn't been before. The share iron smell of blood. He sprang forward, following the scent until he pinpointed Arcane. Although slow, he had still found him, which was good enough for him. He swung his sword at the figure that he identified as indeed his opponent.

Arcane heard Leon coming and waited until he saw the faint outline of a swinging sword, before ducking. So, he was at a disadvantage. He was bleeding and couldn't see while Leon was perfectly fine and could smell his blood to track him wherever he went. He decided it was probably about time to even the odds but he would wait until it was either that or lose. For now, he would flee as best he could. So, he began to run.

From the amount of blood Leon was smelling, he knew that Arcane must be having a hard time. "Hey, you want to stop for now?" He knew that it was probably offensive to him, but he was considered easily kind in terms of monsters. He stopped swinging his sword and confirming that the other was far enough away. He wasnt one to attack someone unable to fight.

"I'm fine," Arcane shouted. "Unless you want to stop." Truthfully, he was half wanting to take a break. At the same time, he wanted to keep his reputation of being one of the best fighters in the Subways. He wasn't going to give up the fight unless he couldn't fight any more. He still hadn't pulled out his hidden tricks. But the mist soon dispersed to the very edges of the tunnel, lingering like a swarm of bees waiting for a reason to sting. The light revealed Arcane clutching his side, his sword in his other hand. His shirt was stained with blood. "Looks like it was a deeper cut than I thought," he commented.

Leon eyed Arcane, with no emotion clear in his expression. He was being cautious and careful, but still felt a little bad for giving a potential friend an unexpectedly large injury. He really hadn't expected it, honestly. He twirled his sword uneasily, deciding if Arcane wanted to continue, he would let him take the starting move. "Um, you're sure, right?"

Arcane grinned, the pain already subsiding, again. "I'm fine," he assured him, before slowly drawing the mist back in. "Now, come get me!" he laughed, his face the last to disappear - much like the Cheshire Cat, but he wasn't becoming invisible or whatever. He wouldn't just give up the fight. He joked about Leon's pride but a dragon had just as much pride as a lion, or at least Arcane did. He would ask for help. He would admit he didn't know something. But he would never quit something unless he was physically and mentally unable to do it.
