Arcane arrived in his favorite tunnel. It was rather dim and not the widest, but it wasn't a tight fit, either. There was enough room for him to run round, swinging a sword. There was enough room for him to spread his wings as a dragon, as well. And the little light let him blend into the shadows, even more than he naturally did.
Spinning around, he drew his scimitar and stepped back, waiting for Leon - his sparring partner.

Leon was in no hurry, studying Arcane as he sauntered on ahead, the monster let out a fanged yawn. He wasn't the type to get excited, or show it, for that matter. He was always perfectly calm, never eager. He raised an eyebrow at the place where Arcane had decided to train in. No doubt that it would probably be an advantage for him; he was the one that chose it.
Along with the package of hard skin in different places, he had keen senses. Most monsters did anyway. He was accustomed to fighting in dark places, so that wouldn't be a problem.
"I'm ready when you are." Leon commented, a hand on the hilt of his sword, not drawing yet. Which could be seen as odd.

Arcane grinned, stepping forward with his sword ready. "Then I guess we're ready. Aren't you going to draw your sword?" he asked. "Or will you just make a dramatic start, drawing it at the last possible second?" Arcane, himself, had done both many times. But this was just training, so he thought Leon should have his sword ready, at least.
But he didn't wait. Spinning the sword in his hand, Arcane slashed out toward the son of the Nemean Lion, hoping he would draw his blade in time and he wouldn't be responsible for sending another monster on a trip to Tartarus.

Leon shrugged playfully, "I like to take my risks." It was a simple sentence, like it explained everything. He watched Arcane cautiously, closely. You were never off better underestimating your opponent. At his opponent's sudden movement, he tucked his left hand to the side of his sword's hilt. He neatly stepped backwards, movement so smooth it was if he had skipped or slid. Obviously he was experienced with human forms with weapons. His right hand raised, the blade came down on his iron hard wrist, letting out a clear clashing sound of metal on metal. There was a sharp spray of sparks and Leon jerked his left, drawing out his flashing golden sword in a circling arc. He spun, bringing he blaxe around at Arcane's left side. "I'm not totally incapavle without my sword." He pointed out

Arcane grinned, dangerously, glad that Leon wasn't completely helpless. Blocking his strike, he, again, swirled his blade in his hand. (When I say swirled or spun his blade, I mean that circle you make with your sword when you move your wrist in a certain way, for future reference.) "So you aren't," he said, acknowledging for the first time Leon's abilities. Still, Arcane was confident in himself and his skill. He wouldn't go down without a fight and, if it came to it, a fight is just what Leon would have on his hands.
Slashing out again, with a series after it in just about every direction, somehow the sword moving, fluidly, from one slash into the other, Arcane began to take a more offensive route, rather than testing Leon's skill.

Even in a hard and full fledged fight such as this, Leon was having plenty of fun. It had been a while since he had someone challenging to fight with. He was smiling that small and peaceful smile of his, though he was definately thinking anything but peaceful thoughts at the current time. He skipped backwards, tilting himself from side to side, the whistling blade cutting sharply past him into the air. He could feel its breath. He could feel the exitement. Nothing cut it unless it was fighting.
Leon finally retaliated, spinning his sword in an odd way. Being his thin and naturally light self, theory stated the in a clash, he would be the one pushed back. He wasn't born a strong monster, no, he made up for it in a different way. He held out a hand as Arcane's blade came down, concentrating his sharp catlike vision.
"Hup, easy does it." Leon caught the tip of his blade smoothly in his fingers, the sparks flying. He jerked his arm to the right suddenly, violently, in an attempt to throw his opponent off balance. He himself stepped to the left and swung his sword out at Arcane.

Instead of throwing Arcane off balance, as he knew the fight was all but over if that were to happen, Arcane allowed the sword to fly out of his hand. Doubtlessly, it should take Leon by surprise, fighting unarmed. But he wouldn't be for long, he'd regain the sword. It was just a matter of time.
Now that his hand was free, Arcane stepped back from the attacker, allowing the blade to pass through empty air where he had been a moment before. "Bye, bye!" he taunted, his black mist radiating out from his body, diminishing the visibility. Arcane blended into the darkness rather well, even in his human form. All he had to do, now, was get to the sword before Leon got to him.
Come get me, he thought, mentally gloating. He silently made his way closer toward where he remembered the sword landing, parting the mist, slightly, wherever he looked - though he was sure to keep his ears listening for Leon and his skin sensing the smallest movement of the air.

Leon had to admit that the fact that Arcane released his grip on his sword and allowed it to spin away freely surprised him. He blinked his eyes, his blade slicing empty air. He had no idea what his opponent was up to.
Leon stepped back involuntarily out of caution as a black mist clouded outward, enveloping his surroundings. His features changed, turning sharper and more angled. The depths of his eye glinted slightly golden, an unnartural color. He used his catlike senses, listening for slight movement. Ah, of course, he was trying to regain his sword.
Leon caught the sharp scent of a monster nearby, and he sprang forward reflexively attacking the form he had detected, swinging out his blade. "Are you trying to play cat and mouse? I really don't favor that game." He wondered just what this mist could be used for. Being the monster with limited abilities, he had to be cautious because of the fact that many monsters had abilities that overshot his expectations.

Arcane leaped back, out of the way of Leon. "Oh, not so much cat and mouse," he grinned. "Not so long as I'm the mouse... which shouldn't be long." Again running off into the darkness, Arcane made the darkness thicken, the mist blocking out even the faintest light. With so much mist, it became slightly more difficult to breathe. With each breath, one would take in half air, half mist. Of course, Arcane left an area open around his face so he could take mist-less breaths. "Here, kitty, kitty!" he called, running off, again, into the mist, ever so silent and even more quick and agile.

Leon let out a low growl of amusement of his own, sounding more lion than human. "Honestly, this isn't how you would normally fight, is it?" He asked in Arcane's direction. Though he couldn't see, he could hear and smell percectly fine. He batted the mist away somewhat, and only caused it to swirl around him. "Ugh, what is this stuff anyway?" He muttered complaintitively.
Leon dashed through blindly, being cautious and constantly pinpointing the other's location. He suddenly sprang ahead, catching Arcane's scent and a slight scuffle of movement. His blade flashed out in his general direction.

Arcane grinned at Leon, though the smile was pretty pointless as no one could see it. "Oh, sometimes," he laughed, zigzagging in a rather illogical manner to keep Leon a bit confused. He knew if he stopped, he'd be taken down. "Depends on my mood!" He was approaching his sword, he could sense it. He knew it was in this general direction. "As for what this is... I'm not all that sure. The results are back in the lab!" he said, laughing at his own joke.
But the laugh didn't last long as Leon leaped out of the darkness. Knowing how to dodge flying objects - or monsters - from his experiences with ancient archers, Arcane stopped dead in his tracks, knowing Leon would land in front of him instead of on him. Before he could, Arcane changed direction, traveling through the very middle of the mist, where Leon once was. Finally, he made it within about 10 feet of his sword. Sensing it should be safe, by now, he allowed the mist to dissipate, finding and grabbing his sword, again. "Back to the start!" he smiled, golden scimitar in hand.

"You don't know what it is? It's your creation!" Leon protested as he found himself another miss from the swing of his blade. Not being able to see clearly bothered him. A blight on his senses was a blight on his fighting. Then the mist dissipated favorably and he let out a small sigh of satisfaction. His lion-like features fading away as his angled features became less sharp and more human. He really had not need for the keen senses he only used to hunt in the dark.
Leon hopped cautiously t the side to escape the last clouds of black mist and discovered Arcane in the middle of it all. He grinned at his opponent, impressed. "If this were a real fight, using that would instantly get me killed." He noted somewhat admirably. He jumped forward, suddenly a lot faster than he had shown before, tapping into his inner power as a lion. "I have to work a lot harder, it seems!" He stabbed forward at his chest.

Arcane smiled at the protest. "Well, it's not like I've ever had the time to examine it! I'm sorta preoccupied when I use it." The mist cleared and he grinned with a bit of pride at Leon's comment. He noticed his face, however, changing from something feline back to human. So, it seems he has a few secrets, too, he thought, mentally applauding the competition.
But Leon lunged forward, very quickly, and he didn't have time to dodge. So, instead, he parried the strike as best he could, glad when the swords made contact, throwing Leon's off course. "Oh, you've no idea," he smiled, kindly but quite menacingly at the same time. Arcane, after the parrying of the strike, slashed out, aiming for the stomach.

Leon still wasn't satisfied. If the stuff touched him, he wanted to know what it was. On contact, things like a mysterious black mist was supposed to unnerve you. It made him feel dirty, like he would need to take a dip in a nice little pond or something-agh! He hated being part cat, even if that said cat was a large and ferocious one.
"I think I should have an idea of my own capabilities." Leon complained. So he had acknowledged Arcane's strength, which took a lot if you retained a pride as large as his own, but at least he could prove something back to him. The blade bounced off his impenetrable right arm with a metallic clash, and he turned, spinning his golden sword at his neck.

Arcane smiled at Leon's statement. "What is your flesh made of?" he asked, doubting he knew what, exactly, it was and how it still managed to look like regular skin. But, instead of an answer, Leo had swung at his neck. Leaning back, almost as if in some martial arts ninja movie, avoiding the sword, he retaliated, arcing his sword, slicing toward Leon's side.
He wasn't going to be beaten by a kitty. No cat could stand a chance against a dragon so what made Leon any different? Arcane was going to fight with Leon until he had beaten him. Hopefully, that wouldn't mean sending him on a one-way ticket to Tartarus to visit good ole Kronos and friends. Arcane smirked at the thought, picturing Leon side-by-side with the most feared Titans to walk the Earth. Quickly, though, he returned his focus to the battle at hand, not letting his guard down.
