Arcane grinned at her annoyance. "This way," he replied, turning to the left and saying no more. He wondered how she usually got into animal shelters without such nice, helpful monsters such as him. Did Aphrodite just magically appear in mortal form and say she'd found Irissia on the street? Maybe he'd ask her sometime if he ever saw her again, which was pretty likely if she stayed in Manhattan since he was always walking around the city, wandering through alleyways and abandoned houses, seeing practically everyone - especially those he wanted to see.

Irissia sighed following with annoyance. “So why is it you know that there is an alleyway near an animal shelter? Not trying to be kind and work service hours are we?” she added the last part sarcastically. Her disdain for him showing once more.

Arcane laughed, looking over his shoulder. "I've lived in and around New York City since the Industrial Revolution. I was here long before the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. I was here before Rockefeller Center and before Central Park." Turning a corner, he smiled. "So, yeah. Let's just say... I know the area."

Irissia rolled her eyes "Well aren't you young?" she said sarcastically. She couldn't imagine being in one place for so long. Wouldnt it be...tiring? She moved from Sparta, to Troy, to Thebes, to Persia, to Spain, to London, and at some point of time she was in Canada. But New York...well this was a new place.

"I figured it was time to settle down," Arcane joked. "My old age is gettin' to me." Turning another corner in the unusually deserted streets, glanced back. "This place used to be perfect. It was a nice Dutch community before the Brits took over. They transformed it into a city - a place of business. When America won it's independence... well... it turned into this." Realizing just how old he was, he blinked in surprise. He'd lived in the Roman Empire. He had watched over Europe through the Black Plague, helping out the disease all he could by carrying the disease as best he could without catching it, himself, to new hosts, though he eventually died from the disease. "I've been around for a while. Sure, I'll take a few visits to Boston or maybe Philadelphia or Annapolis, but this is where I'm at, mostly. There are hiding spots, here, and it's close to the demigod camp so I can keep them in check," he explained.

"Well arent you a primary source history book," she replied sarcastically not at all caring if he felt old. Honestly she didn't care much for time. In fact she didn't even notice the 10 years of the Trojan War. Nor the 100 years in the 100 year war between England and France. Irissia had been on the Trojan side and the English side. So she had taken part in many wars. She had been through her own share of history. But she usually kept to the silent side if the world. Until now when she moved to this loud obnoxious city.

Arcane grinned but didn't reply. He had experienced more of history than anyone should. He supposed that's why monsters were so... monstrous. No one should be forced to be reborn over and over. He honestly just wanted to die. He wanted to actually grow old and die and old, happy man. But that hope was too far-fetched as he knew nothing of the sort would happen. "Here we are," he smiled, indicating an alley. "The shelter is right there," he pointed to a rather nice-looking animal shelter - better than what you'd expect to find this part of the city. Stepping into the alley, he waited for Irissia to step in, as well, and change.

Irissia the second she stepped into the dark alley was a russet husky with blue eyes. Irissia didn't usually change into the sand apperance all the time. It all depending on mood and chance. Her ears flicking forward acknowledging him as she awaited him to continue walking.

Not taking any chances on Irissia running off, again, Arcane knelt down and wrapped his arms around the puppy, taking him into his arms and exiting the dark alley after hesitating in case someone was paying attention. Turning into the animal shelter down the street, he walked up to the front desk, indicating the dog in his arms. "I found this puppy on the streets. She doesn't have a collar but I didn't want to take her to a Pound or anything. You think you could maybe take her?"

Irissia felt herself being picked up and was about to bite his nose when she thought better of it. She needed to go into the animal shelter. Either that or hope she could find a place to crash elsewhere, the subways more of a last resort.
The lady at the front desk looked up at Arcane then down at the husky. "You found a husky in the streets?" she said raising her eyebrow suspiciously as if considering getting his house number to check if he wasn't turning in his pet. Sighing she shrugged "I suppose we can take her in...though have you tried the found for lost puppy notices?" she asked. Irissia barking a bit as if telling the lady to stop talking. Especially since she didn't enjoy being carried.

Arcane smiled at the lady, glancing at the dog. "Honestly, no, I haven't," he said, wanting to make things seem as in-suspicious as possible. Saying he'd checked to see if this puppy was lost, already, could be a lie. But who would lie about not checking? "The thing is, though, is that there was no collar on her, here, so I figured she must not belong to anyone. It's the law to have a collar on the dogs here, isn't it? Since there was no collar, this is probably a dog without an owner - maybe escaped from the Pound or was dropped off by some owners who didn't want it, taking off her collar." He was a master at making things seem truthful. Saying he'd already checked or just figured it didn't have an owner would draw more attention to him than saying neither, deducting his reasoning and not making it look as if he'd been making assumptions.

The lady nodded glancing at the puppy "I suppose we have room..." she told him honestly. Taking Irissia who squirmed a bit but then was still. Her clear puppy eyes narrowing as she shifted comfortably. Then flicked her ears at Arcane as if thanking him. She tilted her head to the side. Maybe he wasn't soo bad...to bad he was a human eating monster.

Arcane nodded, turning to leave. "Take good care of her," he smiled, looking over his shoulder as he exited the doors. Hopefully, he'd see her again. He'd make sure he saw her again. He knew how to find people. After all, he's lived in the area for years.
