Arcane rolled his eyes at Irissia's hatred toward him. He'd done nothing wrong. She hated him for what he was, not who he was. That was racism in his book. Still, he looked past it, determined to change her mind. While Irissia was telling the story, he whispered into one of the kids' ears. "You know, I knew King Minos.... He liked his gold." The child began giggling and he looked straight ahead, innocently, as if he didn't ruin the moral of the story for the little girl.
After the story was over and the children began to run off to the kitchens, Arcane stood up, stretching a little. "Colleague?" he asked, grinning. "Well, I suppose it's a start." He wasn't sure what to do. They might be leaving, now, or they could be staying. It was hard to tell on his first time there. So he stayed put, waiting for Irissia to make the first move.

Irissia rolled her eyes at him "You mean a great finish." her voice annoyed. "Now you can either go are stay. But if you return with friends I swear I'll hunt you down," she hissed as she brushed past him and to the kitchen where the lady was distributing plates of lasagna.
Irissia grinned at her "Need help there Heather?" she asked leaning against the door as Heather laughed juggling lasagna bowls, children, and juice boxes as kids ran in and out. Walking over Irissia took the bowls of lasagna and handed them to the remaining children. Later taking a bowl for herself. She was Infact half mortal, therefore had some kind of hunger for their food.
Irissia then took an extra bowl knowing Arcane was probably still there. Walking to where she left him she avoided the playful kids as she held two forks and two bowls in her hands. "Food. Not innocent mortals." she told him coldly handing the bowl then jumping onto the counter and sitting down watching the kids from above.

Arcane shrugged at her comment and didn't give any reaction when she gave him the option of staying or leaving. By the time she had returned, Arcane was leaning against the wall. "Thanks," he said, sarcastically, as Irissia made the comment about it being food and not innocent mortals. Taking a bite, he realized he didn't mind it too much. The last time he'd eaten mortal food was when the gods were centered in Britain and, though Arcane didn't know it, British food was notorious for not tasting good (though that's not completely true, I love scones). Since then, he'd convinced himself he didn't like mortal food. He'd drink mortal beverages but never eat mortal food, finding a reason against it every time someone asked him to join them.
Jumping up beside Irissia, he took another bite as more of the children began to run back into the kitchen. When there were only a few left, all on the other side of the room, he began to speak. "Can you blame a cheetah for eating a gazelle?" he asked, taking another bite of the lasagna.

Irissia barely looked at Arcane when he sat next to her. Her eyes monitoring the children when she replied before eating some more lasagna "I can if the cheetah has gazelle lineage" her voice was rather flat as if the answer was obvious. She didn't bother looking at him, her eyes were kind towards the children but her posture was tense as if awaiting Arcane to attack so she could slice his throat.
Heather on the other hand remained in the kitchen, the Demi god was cleaning dishes, or rather shoving them into a dish washer. The sounds of clattering pots didn't seem to disturb anyone who either ate or ran around the ones who did eat.

Arcane sighed, slightly, not knowing what to say. "It's just... instinct. Most of us were raised that way and..." he didn't know where to go from there. "It's how we survive. It's the blood in us that naturally gives us the craving for... well... you know," he said, finally, not wanting to say 'kids' just in case one of them heard. He had compassion, or at least he knew better than scare children. Taking another bite of his lasagna, he stayed silent, not knowing how to explain why he ate mortals. It was like explaining why he existed, he just did. It's how it's always been, it's how it more than likely always will be. There was no changing it, he didn't have the power to.

Irissia snorted. She had no such craving, mostly because her unhuman side was a dog, loyal to the human race. "Well I have an urge to kill you. Does that make it ok for me to do so? My mother raised me to kill monsters." her voice sarcastic. Mother ha! Her mother was gone, all she did was leave her in Sparta for the Spartans to raise her. Which is ok since she got to meet Achilles, and some other heroes from the Trojan War, in which she thought Troy should have won. Then again it all began with a stupid golden apple.
Her eyes turned away from him with clear disdain not seeming much fonder than before, but at least she didn't completely hate him now. More of a gotten use to his aggravating presence.

(I thought the Trojan War started over some girl named Helen being kidnapped...? Then again, I don't know much about Troy....)
Arcane sighed. "Do what you want. Kill me. I'll come back - call it a curse," he sighed, half wishing he wasn't practically immortal with the whole reforming process and everything. "There's no getting rid of us, Irissia. We're here, we always will be, but don't take it out on us..." he said, beginning to trail off. "It's not our choice who we are born to be." His voice was practically a whisper, now, as he took his final bite of lasagna and hopped down from the counter, holding out his hand as he saw Irissia had finished her's, as well. "I'll take it in for you, I think I can find the way," he smiled. In all reality, he just wanted to stop the current conversation, despite him being the one to start it. Taking the bowls and such in to the demigod Heather, they could begin a new conversation... or just none at all.

(no. It starts with this golden apple Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite want for the fairest goddess. So to determine who gets it they ask Paris (who lived in the mountains at the time cause the king and queen made him leave Troy cause of the prophecy he would destroy Troy) and Aphrodite offers marriage to the most beautiful women in all the lands, who was already married to this old king of Sparta, and Paris accepts and gives the apple to Aphrodite. Which is why Athena is against Troy. Then Paris with the help of Aphrodite gets to return to Troy and meets the Spartan king and his wife on a truce. Aphrodite forces Helen, the Spartan queen, to fall in love with the young handsome Paris and she runs away with him. So Paris gets his prize, the most beautiful women as a wife. Thus beginning the Trojan War. But when I think about it, it actually starts cause the goddess of Chaos wasn't invited to a wedding...cause she is the one who created the golden apple and said only the fairest goddess could have it...)
Irissia gazed at him with unnerving eyes "But the difference is I chose to control myself and not attack just because it's easier." her voice a whisper and with that she fell silent handing him the bowl and not looking at him twice. Her eye on the little girl who braided her hair earlier. The small child obviously her favorite. The girl looked up and smiled at Irissia "Are you going to stay tonight?" she asked her. But Irissia hopped off the counter "No. I'm afraid I'm too busy tonight..." she told the little girl giving her a hug before walking to the door and putting on her shoes. Figuring Arcane wouldn't take long to throw something in the trash. The children were crowding around her waving their byes and bidding their farewells. And she replied "Don't worry I'll be back as soon as possible," she told them.
Heather looked up at the approaching Arcane. "Here I'll take that..." she told him taking the dishes and throwing away the plastic bowls they were using that night but putting the forks into the sink to be washed later when the rest of the children finished eating. Heather unlike Irissia was more homey and sweet. The air around her was comfortable and she never glared at you or threatened to end your existence. So the mere fact her and Irissia were friend's was quite odd. Looking out the kitchen door and to Irissia she smiled watching as the children hugged and took turns saying bye.

(Oh, I didn't know that part!)
"Thank you," Arcane replied, kindly. When Heather looked behind him, he turned his head and saw that Irissia was leaving and wondered if he would ever see her, again, since she said she wasn't staying in the Subways. "I suppose you don't want a monster around without the protection of Irissia," he grinned, turning to leave. He knew the way demigods worked - especially around children. They would welcome monsters in if they were brought by someone they knew but, once that person left, the demigod would suddenly become very protective and offensive, waiting for the monster to make a wrong move as an excuse for them to kill them.

(lol yeah, I have been reading the Illiad during class xD)
Heather looked at Arcane with a apologetic smile "I wouldn't kill you. But I would love you. We dealer fine without Irissia, she's just the extra hand I needed. She isn't that bad you know...just a bit...loyal," she decided would be the right word and waved as Arcane left. Children waving bye at him as well "Come back soon!" a small scrawny boy said. Having only seen females as visitors he kinda wished he got to know the first male visitor...
Irissia watched Arcane for a moment but didn't leave not yet. Her hand on the door "I hope that satisfied your curiosity." her voice still cold, her gaze on the outside world. Stepping outside she took a yellow book with her. Flipping through the pages as she moved forward. Ripping out the pages about animal shelters, and hotels. Having no intensions of trusting the monsters. She wouldn't. Not yet that is...

Arcane had slipped his shoes back on and waved bye to the children before walking out. He wondered whether he would ever come back to this place. He wasn't going to come here, alone. He knew Irissia would probably kill him if she found out. He'd only come back if they somehow managed to become friends, which seemed unlikely, and she came back. "It has," he replied, glancing back at the building they'd just left.

Irissia threw the book into a nearby trash flattening the yellow sheets she tore out and carefully studying them. "Well I'm glad you got to see what I did with the drachmas," she replied sarcastically. Irissia didn't completely hate Arcane. But she wasn't find of him. That would take much more time. Looking up she asked "Do you by chance have a clock?" she asked not wanting to get picked up by the pound whenever she changes into a dog. All she needed was a small space for her to sleep as a dog and shed be good, especially if their was room in an animal shelter...which would be trickier to get into...maybe she could get Heather to bring her in...the kids...frowning she studied Arcane. "Actually I think I may need a bit more than just a clock..." she told him.

"Stay with us," he smiled, knowing she had nowhere to go. She was like a stray dog, without a home. "Just for a while, I mean. We're not as bad as you think." Then, thinking about what he just said, added, "Well, some of us aren't. Others..." he trailed off, knowing many monsters would eat a demigod or mortal or whatever even if they weren't hungry. "Besides, I think it's supposed to rain tonight, judging by the sky. You need a place to stay."

Irissia shook her head. Rolling her eyes she replied "The rain is the least of my worries," and as if to prove a point she jumped into a shadow. Coming out as a small thin husky. Her clear blue eyes staring up at Arcane as she flicked her ears. Even as a soft fluffy dog she didn't seem to like Arcane...Her eyes narrowing as she slid under a cartboard box by a silver bin. Her body fitting perfectly into the small space. The silver Tina's lid covering some of the too of the box.
Irissia could handle the streets. They weren't a problem. The problem was though getting breakfast as a dog in the morning. Since under no circumstances would she eat from the trash nor beg. Which was why she thought of the animal shelter. Since she actually didn't mind dog food. Crawling back out she sat down. Her tail curled around her paws and not wagging at all as she looked up at Arcane as if saying 'see no big deal'

Arcane grinned as Irissia turned into a dog. "C'mere, puppy," he laughed, amusement in his eyes. Realizing she might take offense by his joking, he stopped, immediately. "So, you can handle the rain. Still not the best way to sleep. Wouldn't you rather stretch out?" he asked, grinning. "It's not like you can get very comfy under a cardboard box, after all."
In all actuality, he was just trying to coax her into staying with them so she would learn more about monsters and how they acted on instinct, not brains... mostly. She seemed so angry at all the monsters she encountered and he wanted to show her they weren't as bad as she made them out to be. Eating mortals and the occasional demigod was the only real thing they did wrong, if you consider following instinct wrong.
