Lauren Gray had literally all the time in the world. Or so it felt like. She didn't even bother keeping track of time anymore. She would listen for news of her friends. But she would often not hear of them for weeks. Julien Roux, the son of Demeter was gone, where he was she didn't know. Possibly he was reborn? She shrugged. She never thought of being reborn, she had been worrying too much about her camp above to really think of herself.
That was Lauren's main problem. She never thought of herself until after she was dead. Never once did anyone ask her what she wanted, what she thought. But now being dead she could think the way she wanted to think, dream and do things she wanted to do, no worries of disappointing anyone. Not her father, not Chiron, not the other campers. She was independent. Sorta.
The daughter of Apollo looked down at the sculpture, it was a strangely very well made work of a woman sitting on a stone, her hand reaching down for something. Honestly it wasn't very realistic, it didn't have the details of a person, it didn't have the life her paintings or music did. Now she was attempting more abstract things, or rather, she was somewhat forgetting what all the details were.
That's why she kept a sketch book in her small room, it was full of detailed sketches or poems/stories of her life. What she remembered. It was like a beautiful book she would often look back at in case she forgot something. She kept all art work she made in this room for display. But the book she kept hidden. If you entered the room it would be like a museum. But it dated from when she first arrived, to now. You would begin the walk with different scenes, some portraits of people. She even had one of the questers before they left. All of them looking quite excited, even Shade was in the picture. Not that he knew that of course. He hadn't entered the room before.
Lauren looked back at the book every time she finished a new painting, not before though, she was watching her art work change, in the book though, she had sketchings from her childhood, she had one of both Terry and Kat when they first meet, and how Matt introduced himself to them. The three of them being very close friends. She had pictures of the day she died, pictures of the day Silver and Zeke fought. All random memories were hidden in this book as sketchings. She even had sketchings of nearly every camper and their arrivals, when she first meet Jasper, when she spoke with Chiron. Sometimes you would have a poem or story go with it. But looking at the book was like seeing a film of her life.
Setting the sculpture next to the painting of random shades of color swirling to make a abstract design. After the random pictures from her book she had decided to make larger and put on display you could notice the paintings slowly changing. Veering away from her life to more of dreams, thoughts, feelings, you could see the sunset but underneath you could see the field, it seemed like a never ending maze. A place you could never escape. Walking towards her collection of instruments she lifted the top of the piano. Pulling out the book and sitting on top of the white surface of the instrument.
Turning the pages she studied the pictures, it was her way of remembering her life and what she once was, since most of the dead forgot who they were after a couple hundred years. Plus, maybe one day she could be in the Isles looking through her different lives. Lauren Gray was truly blessed, she was thoughtful and wise, she was artistic, compassionate, kind hearted, her powers were at one point mastered, her bright blue eyes looked at the door as she heard a slight sound.

Shade, to put it bluntly, was tired. He was going through the buildings in Elysium to quell the chaos within him. He was trying his best to remain calm. He had taken another life, and he felt the guilt brimming inside of him. It was a direct order from the Fates themselves, and he couldn't disobey. That night, he hadn't felt like ending anyone else's life. There was no way he could go ahead and slay Kat because his father wanted him to. He had felt there was enough bloodshed that night.
The son of Hades was wandering aimlessly, wondering how he had come to be so soft. How he had become so cruel. At the same time, with different points of view, he realized that he didn't fit on either side. He had been born as a pawn and worked tirelessly, heartlessly, even, for his father. He was cruel, and didn't mind killing if it was the absolute order. But after taking the job of going into Camp Half Blood as a spy for his father, he had that previous memory wiped. Dodge had prepared him, made him a kind kid. And in camp, he had been quiet, shy, and friendly. But now he remembered that that wasn't the real him. He was really the subordinate of Hades. He had returned to serve as a father again, but he couldn't shake the personality he had gained through spending his time at camp. He felt like he couldn't fit in to either. He was too soft for his father, and too cruel for the camp. He had murdered two already. The deaths rested on his conscience. He remembered killing before, but Max and Julien were the first for this emotion to swamp him.
He walked aimlessly through the door to the art room, his hazel eyes dull and empty. A ghost girl in the corner looked over curiously, and he recognized her. "Lauren," he said. Oh, shoot. How would she react? Shade remembered their talk before about being kinder. Being a hero. He was no hero. Wasn't it obvious now? He stepped over, observing her book at the piano. Was she going to play? why wouldn't his voice work properly? "Hey, how have you been doing?" His words kind of broke off, and he turned away, his hood hiding his pained expression.

Lauren heard Shade's voice and automatically snapped shut her sorta diary like sketch book of her life, including detailed sketches of everything she remembered. Yes, Shade was in the book. Her light blue eyes meet the son of Hades with a brilliant smile slipping the book out of sight.
"How are you Shade? I've been fine...dead I suppose, but fine," she laughed lightly trying to lighten the mood. But when he turned away she frowned knowing something was wrong. Stepping forward she spoke "Are you alright?" she said softly.

His hazel eyes caught her movement, sharp and quick at closing her book. He wouldn't pry her about it, but for a moment, he thought he saw himself. He was curious, but not enough to ask if she didn't want him to see. Besides, that wasn't the problem at hand.
"That's...good." Shade whispered about her being good. But he wasn't. He wasn't at all. The floor was beginning to spin under his feet. "I went to the world above. I got an order from the Fates..." The son of Hades was really getting dizzy now, and as Lauren stepped forward, he stumbled, gripping onto her shoulder. She was about the same being as him, being older. "I had to kill-" He cut off, his voice breaking under pressure.

Lauren held onto him tightly as he stumbled. Carefully she came closer to help he sit down on a white stool on the other side of the room. Her light blue eyes worried "Shade, if it was an order from the Fates then I suppose it was for the better...." sure Lauren would have killed herself than kill another of innocent, but if the Fates ordered it. It must have been for a reason.
Gently though she hugged him wanting to try to comfort him seeing that he seemed very shaken up. The dead daughter of Apollo though dead still had a heart as warm as a summer day. Hesitantly she tried to look him in the eyes to read his emotions. The ghost unlike the others had no interest in trying to appease Hades but rather was kind to Shade because she remembered the old Shade. The one she had sketched in her book and painted with the questers.

Shade shook his head as she tried to comfort him, "Would you still say that if she was your best friend when you lived? No. Two of her friends- one, I think, was her boyfriend- ran in to see her dead. You should have seen the pain in their eyes." He resisted the urge to shove her away roughly when she wrapped her arms around him. It was only then did he realize he was shivering the slightest bit. He never did any of this when he killed- until recently.
He laughed, bitterly with no happiness, "I am no hero."

Lauren paused. Watching him and stepping back to study his face carefully "Why did you kill her then? Are you aware that all lives have strings attached to them. Nobody dies without pain..." she told him gently. She didn't sound angry at all. Just calm. Her light blue eyes worried for the poor boy. She smiled at him sweetly "You aren't a villain either. Plus. there is a pretty good chance that can change," she told him (sorry took so long )

Shade shrugged, getting a bit of a hold of himself. "I never cared about any of that before. I never noticed. But recently... I'm just bound by laws. I am what I am." It was new, this pain. He hadn't felt guilty before, and he wasn't quite sure why he did now. "When I first went to camp and made some friends...I had an idea that it wouldn't last. But who knew it could all end up like this? I've messed up too much."

(sorry this took so long. I forgot bout this thread Dx)
Lauren laughed. The sound a light melody with a sweet ring in the sad air, her laughter was unexpected. Like a streak of light through storm clouds, maybe she did keep some of her gifts from Apollo, the music wasn't humorous, but more like a amused but sweet sound. "Aaron Shade," she scolded with a smile "Did you not see this coming? You are human. You have a heart," pointing at his chest she smiled "It feels too, now everybody makes mistakes, but I think it's time to learn from them. To start making your own mistakes and hurting because of what you wanted." pausing she straightened herself but remained with a smile "To be truly alive you must be able to die, so in a sense you can view this pain as birth. Or rather rebirth. Because no unborn child enters the world without a cry, maybe this strange feeling is your cry? Now all you must do is open your eyes, and accept the world," looking around she found the portrait of Shade and the questers "True friends last forever, and will always be there when you need them," pointing at Terry and the other questers "They will understand, because they never acted like friends, they truly were friends," she told him smoothly.

(Haha, it's fine)
Shade blinked, her laughter sprinkling the heavy air with pixie dust, lightening it just a bit. He was a bit dumbfounded as she spoke, pointing at his chest. With the slight tilt of his head, he listened. She sure had a lot to say...but it all made sense. "They might have not been acting, but I was. It all feels fake, you know? Like I was just deceiving them. What do you think they would do if they found out?"
Kat would just snort. She believed he was evil now, so why would it come as a surprise to her? And Matt...well, he had nearly destroyed the camp. And Terry, Terry knew last time. He had come down here not just to rescue Tina in the first place, but to kill him. H had lost most of their trust. He stared at Lauren's picture, finding the tiniest of smiles touching his expression. "You're good." Even for a daughter of Apollo.

Lauren smiled "If it was deception, why do you feel it now? Are you sure you aren't trying to convince yourself you never were their friend to get rid of this...strange feeling for you?" her light blue eyes were bright as they looked down at the portrait. His comment making a grin spread across her. "Light will eventually shine, even in the darkest of times," she told him in a soft melodic song.

Confusion was the first emotion that passed through his eyes. Then came understanding that pushed the tiniest of amusement into him. "Lauren, I can't be their friends. I was initially deceiving them. I don't deserve their friendship. And if I tried to be close to them, who says my father's orders wouldn't ruin it all again? I am bound to him by the words of Styx." But her optimism was greatly appreciated, that was for sure.

"It's not the actions that make a person, but the feelings and purpose behind them is it not? So you were forced to deceive them, it doesn't make you undeserving. It just means you have to strive twice as hard to match your actions with your feelings." pausing she then looked in the direction of Hades' castle curious is someone would overhear and rat her out. But what did she have to lose? "You know, sometimes its better to follow your own path then let someone else tell you what it should be, how to feel, how to think, and what to want for yourself. It's sometimes better to be selfish than anything else," she told him.

Shade stared at the marble floor, then replied quietly, "No, that's the thing. I didn't mind deceiving them at all. I did it of my own will. But who would have known I would get attached?" It was ironic. It would have been better for them all if he didn't think of them as his friends. But what was done could not be undone, and there was no way he could be friends wit them ever again.
"I want to, trust me. Even my father knows that. But like I said, I am bound to him by an oath on the Styx." The son of Hades shrugged helplessly and sighed. "I can't disobey my father, leave his side, or correlate with any of the campers."

Lauren turned back to the portrait of Shade and started to put it back in its place as she replied "Not at the time, but it seems like to me. You care now. And it's the present that should count more than the past, you have all of afterlife to worry about that," she told him.
Lauren frowned at him "An oath by Styx? To be his slave?" she asked
