It was startling how perfect she made the picture of him. It was like staring at a mirror. It was like he was reading himself, and picking out every failure to his face. "I worry, sure, but that's not going to do me any good now."
Shade flinched at her use of "slave". He snapped back at her, "I am his son. He is my patron. I swore loyalty and obedience, not to be a slave! I got things in return..." But they weren't things he really valued over a life of murdering anymore. He could be happy down here if he didn't have to kill.

Lauren nodded "And is your slavery worth whatever you got in return," the daughter of Apollo obviously not believing the fact he wasn't a slave. Because in her eyes he was a slave, he had to follow order wether or not he wanted to. He couldn't really have much of an opinion, he was being used. Used to do Hades' dirty work.

To put it bluntly, the question stung pretty bad. Shade flinched in reaction and then found his senses, shooting to his feet angrily. His hazel eyes were steel cold, yet blazing with frustration at the same time. He opened his mouth to protest, but then he found that in a way, she was right. It had been worth it when he was young. Now, not so much, since he was aware of the lives he had ruined, and the pain he had wrought upon others. He had a lot of new enemies.
But he was still his father, and his expression turned to one of sadness, "No, not anymore, but I owe him. He gave me my life and my power. I would never have met the campers in the first place if it weren't for the spy mission. And in all honesty, I understand why he took it all away. Lauren, stop saying that I'm his slave. I'm his son. You know what that's like, right?" The urge to want to impress, the urge to gain recognition, even if it were only a little.

Lauren didn't seem phased by his anger. The pretty daughter of Apollo remained calm, her light blue eyes tranquil, her poise relaxed. As she listened. Until his question caught her off guard.
Lauren's eyes narrowed and for a moment a flash of a foreign emotion swept across her face. The perfect daughter of Apollo bit back the hiss and spoke in a calm melodic tone. "I know what it's like to live and lose life for everyone but yourself."
Lauren knew the urge to impress the Greek Gods. It was what kept her going, everything she did was to make her father proud. To make the gods proud. But when was the last time in life she did something for herself? Never. Only in death did she escape their sight to realize, that even if she did everything to have them ashamed of her, her life would have followed the same path. The seemingly perfect being, had realized she had never found out the meaning of life, or what she wanted from it. And now that she was dead, she had eternity to regret it...
