Arcane held of as many monsters as he could, seeing new ones emerge from the bushes. The mist around them seemed to be fading, indicating Pheo had fled. However, Arcane was not putting enough thought into it for the possibility of him trailing Jackie to cross his mind. Instead, he continued to fight, staying as close to the middle of Tori and Leon as possible so he could run either way to aid.
However, one of the sons of Ares decided to take their mind off of the true threat to their client and instead focus on him, knowing he was a monster. He fired an arrow which grazed Arcane's shoulder, leaving a deep gash where the tip passed through. Unfortunately, this was his dominant shoulder and the wound greatly handicapped his sword-fighting. Much slower, now, careful not to worsen the wound, he continued to fight off the weaker monsters, the stronger ones dismissing him as a threat and moving on toward Irissia and Tori.

Kim sidestepped most of the blows, bending down into the bridge to dodge some kicks and swooping her own legs upward to parry some attacks. She did two back handsprings to get out of Leon's reach. He seemed to be holding back, which pissed her off. Who did he think he was, acting like he was stronger than her? Of course, she knew that it was only a matter of time before he didn't stand a chance. He was much more powerful than all his siblings, but they were much more bloodthirsty. Leon had become soft because of the demigod. They were relentless, and his mind was pretty much elsewhere, as much as Kim could tell. Through her peripheral vision, she saw some action taking place between her ally and his opponent, but then watched as a mortal dashed off and her ally chase after it. Excuse me, I thought that guy was your target, Kim thought, rolling her eyes. She flung two daggers lazily at Leon, sending three more directly afterward. She had to find out where he was invulnerable, and where he was. Hopefully he'd show it by protecting where he was most vulnerable and leaving his invincible hide to defend other areas of his body by itself.

(I think Tori is pretty much out of the thread now cause she isn't doing anything xD so I'll just take her and Irissia out soon I guess)
Irissia watched the siblings of Leon approach and morphing into a dog she growled at them. Some of them stumbling back as the beast ripped through the youngest easily. She always caught her prey, unfortunately these were her victims.
Tori continued running though, Irissia following a bit slower keeping the monsters that avoided Arcane away from her.

He stepped back, glancing around. He caught a glimpse of Arcane who was bleeding now from a wound. Irissia and Tori were not at the scene, and their scents told him they had fled farther from the battle. He ducked and rolled out of the way as Kim de died to take the initiative to attack. The daggers zipped past him and he knocked one aside with his blade. He didn't want Kim to know every patch of his armor, so protecting even the areas where the daggers wouldn't make a dent was something to confuse her. He moved back, cutting through a few monsters and one of his own siblings.

(Yeah, I'll be taking Arcane out soon, too. Is this the only thread we're going to have for Tori's Journey or will there be a second one for later on in the journey when she arrives?)
Arcane reverted to his more primal dragon form, realizing his wound was far too great to continue with a sword. Instead, the dark mist began to return, clouding around him and the attackers. In panic, some of the monsters began attacking each other, fearing a sneak attack from Arcane. The ones that made it toward the edge of the darkness, however, found themselves face-to-face with a dark form with glistening fangs and razor-like claws. Most did not make it out alive though, by some miracle, a few did escape here and there, going on toward Irissia and Tori, though these were few and far between - nothing Irissia couldn't handle.

Kim watched as the demigod left, anger bubbling up inside. Whatever, she thought. Next time. She saw as many were injured and killed, strangely feeling that there was a cliche ending to this battle. Good guys win; bad guys lose. As much as she hated to lose, she knew that there was no chance she'd be good any time soon. She'd rather lose every time than be a stuck-up goody-goody. And with this many weaklings on her side, she'd probably lose a lot. Battles were meant to be lost or won; there weren't usually draws when it came to monsters. Her mysterious ally had left with the mortal, and he was probably her best bet. So, she took a step back, pondering retreat. Her other allies were mere weaklings, and she had absolutely no faith in them.
(Um. I might get my internet taken when school starts....so.... .-.)

Leon, to put it bluntly, was tired. As Kim stepped back, he didn't even have time to recover. He was swamped by two of his siblings and a hydra. He slashed his two brothers backwards, taking a bit of acid from the mini multi-headed monster that barreled past him when he didn't have time to move out of the way. The cloth melted from his shoulder where he had been hit, burning into his skin and turning it an ugly red. He brushed what he could away with an invulnerable hand, biting the inside of his cheek hard enough to draw blood.
The son of the Nemean Lion moved away from the three, finally managing to stab on of his siblings in the gut and taking the other out with a sharp kick to break the neck. The hydra, he simply sliced completely in half through the stomach, severing the bottom half of the monster from the torso. He was showered in golden dust, and coughing. He gave Kim one last glare and slipped away into the trees.
Leon moved, racing towards Arcane and his swirling black mist, knocking aside some attacking monsters with his blade. "Where's Tori?" he asked, almost desperately, hoping his friend was in there somewhere and would appear to answer him. He had lost her scent in the chaos, and saw no sigh of Irissia or the daughter of Aphrodite.

Arcane swatted away one of the remaining sons of Kampe with a swift flick of his tail before launching himself into the air just long enough to slash at a harpie. Catching sight of Leon, he moved in, killing off as many monsters as he could to reduce the danger. Though he was much more suited to fight as a dragon than a mortal with a wounded sword arm, Arcane knew he couldn't speak unless he reverted to his more human appearance.
Reluctantly doing so, only after swatting away another monster, Arcane cautiously approached Leon, dissipating the mist just enough to get a vague outline. "She's safe," he assured his friend, eyes darting from one place to the next, watching for anyone getting too close. "Irissia took her into the woods, away from the fight," he added, explaining further. "She'll protect her but we should probably catch up before they get too far."

He turned as Arcane emerged, his arm bloody from a nasty cut. Leon's eyes widened slightly in exclamation, "You got nicked over there." He was stating the obvious, and almost felt like slapping himself. This was all his problem, and he had managed to get everyone involved. He knew that he would be able to hold out, at least.
He nodded at Arcane's advice, looking over towards the trees. He hoped Irissia wouldn't get swamped. The weakness to her impeccable aim was sheer numbers. There was no way she could shoot everyone at once. She had to redraw and shoot once more. And protecting someone was hard in a fight. It wasn't that he doubted her. He had the right to worry, anyways.
"Let's go then," Leon said without hesitation, stepping forward and turning a Sphinx child into golden dust. And he took off towards the general direction of the daughter of Laelaps and Tori.

Arcane laughed in reply. "Well, we don't all have steel skin like some people," he grinned, covering the wound with his hand for the time being, applying as much pressure with it as possible. Once the fight was truly over, he would bandage it up but, for now, he needed to stay alert rather than focus on the cut.
Following Leon, he kept as many monsters in a dense fog as possible while leaving their path open. His hopes were to keep the others confused for long enough to get ahead. That way, even if they did manage to find their way, he, Irissia, and Leon would have finished off the first batch of monsters already near Tori and could focus on the second wave rather than fending off both groups.

He gave Arcane a wary smile, "You just wish you did." His expression betrayed his teasing tone, and his face fell for a moment though. "All jokes aside, I'm sorry you're in this mess again. I owe you so much already. I don't know how I'm gonna repay you." They made their way through the swirling mist black as night.
They cut through the treeline, undetected, and Leon fell right away on the first monster, sticking his sword through from his back and catching him by surprise. The rest turned with snarls and growls. And then he caught sight of Tori. Fueled by determination, he took tow at once, kicking a dracanae into an approaching son of Sphinx.

Arcane shook his head, smiling. "It's fine, I need a bit of excitement here and there. It gets boring living in the same place for so long." Laughing, he added, "The way I see it, this is a vacation!"
Leaving the black mist behind them, he allowed the rest of their journey to be fog-free for maximum visibility. He spotted the mob of monsters with Tori and Irissia not far ahead of them. Before Arcane could do anything, however, Leon charged in. Standing back for a moment, admiring his conviction, he lunged at a nearby monster, beheading it and moving on to the next. His mind wasn't really in the fight, though, but rather on Jackie, hoping she was okay.
