Pyre forced a smile as Max spoke. Cheerful and optimistic, as always. The Academy would be so dull without her. His mind wandered to her younger sister. He wondered how she would handle the news. Getting word your sister was dead; well, it'd be devastating. He'd have to tell her, however, being her dorm leader... and no longer being Max's.
At least this child of Hades - Shade, if he recalled, correctly; a fitting name - was kind enough to give Garret a final ten minutes with her. He didn't know what his friend would have done had he not been able to have one last conversation with her. Taking a step back, he wondered just where Shade had gone. Was he gone for good? Hopefully.

Max smiled slightly masking her pain once detecting Garret's grief which automatically reminded her of his misfortune. That was the worse thing about love. One always had to die in the end, and the other was forced to live like it was ok. Max hated the thought of Garret being sad, he had to find a way to be happy. Though she probably wouldn't be able to do so herself, she wished Garret would.
Max hugged Garret tightly. "I should have listening to you, I'm so sorry..." she whispered to him momentarily forgetting Pyre. This was probably the worse thing. Having to actually say goodbye when they so willingly sink into your arms and bury their face in your chest not wanting to leave.
Elisabeth...the name drifted through her mind. Her poor sister...how would she deal? And what if the Fates target her too? Looking up she remembered Pyre. Pulling away and forcing a smile. Looking at them both she said "Don't let Elisabeth use her powers...I don't want her killed too...please take care of her..." she begged them both. Though knowing even if she hadn't said it they would have taken care of her anyways.

Garret shook his head forcing himself to act like it was ok "No...I should have never let you come alone... You wouldn't be like this if I was there to protect you..." he told her gently. Yes, Garret was blaming himself as well. How couldn't he? If he was here, his power would have meet Shade's and Max would still be alive... She wouldn't be gone...
Garret forced back tears as he held her close. Kissing the top of her head. "I'm sorry I couldn't be here when you needed me Max..." he told her in a soft barely audible voice. His insides hurt. He couldn't think very clearly. And for a moment he let the pain flash in his eyes, the sight would send a pang of grief even to a complete stranger, but he quickly masked it with lack of emotion for Max's sake. He couldn't let her see him sad. She was trying so hard to be happy for him, he had to be strong for her...
Nodding he spoke "Yes, of course we will protect Elisabeth..." he told her with a faint forced smile. Elisabeth...her little sister will also be in pain due to the news...
(So this is a question cause I don't remember if we ever talked about this. But are you still gonna use Elisabeth? I'm just curious.)

(Oh I love that song/Sleeping With Sirens *referring to new theme song*) Looking up at him with large ivy eyes she shook her head "Garret, it's not your fault. It's nobody's fault ok?" she smiled wryly at him "It's the Fates and their games..." she told him. "Everybody has to die eventually...just my day came sooner than expected..." she told him softly her eyes watching his sad sea green eyes. "Just don't do anything rash ok? Don't try anything, just because I can't live anymore doesn't mean you can't live either..." she told him slowly. Garret's words making her shake her head sadly "Garret, you can't stop fate...if I was meant to die then I would have died eventually...I suppose this is slightly better than a slow death... I can't even remember the pain..." she told him honestly. The pain only came after she was dead, when she had to look at Garret and know he was hurt. (Hm...I'm not sure I might...idk... maybe.)

Garret shook his head, was it too much to ask for no death? He couldn't bare the idea of living without her, what was life before meeting her? It was all a blurr, and now he couldn't find the stranght to let her go, to move on knowing she was dead. And wouldn't be back. Why must the fates be so cruel?
You may not remember the pain my love...but I will always remember it...50 times worse than it would have felt... the sad thought crossing his mind and making his heart hurt.
