"I kmow my limits!" Shade snapped back at her, his agitation growing, "When I need help, I'll ask for it! What are you trying to do anyway? What does pointing this all out do to give you any benefit? Why won't you just leave me alone? I have things to do." He felt like he was having a stupid war within himself, and it was hurting for no reason. He wasn't lonely, that was for sure, but maybe it was because that the campers were so naively willing to sacrifice themselves to protect one another that it made them strong. It ticked him off.

Lauren frowned at him a small sign of sadness crossing her face "I didn't believe everything I did had to benefit me some way or the other..." she muttered casting her light blue eyes away from him and back up at the tower they had left. Painting didn't benefit her, she was dead, nothing could really help her. So why did he think she was speaking to him in hopes shed receive something in return? Did she seem like that kind of person to him?

Shad head noticed her expression, but he continued, "A life's objective is to be happy. A companion is someone used to make your life happy. Have you ever thought about it that way? I have. Nothing is permanent, Lauren. I hate to say so, but I'm really not you. I see everything differently, so stop trying to implement you ideals into my feelings. I'm not- never was- a nice person."

Lauren shook her head "No, life's purpose is to give it meaning. To do something worth while to the world," she told him shaking her head. "You know YOLO," she said with a laugh shaking her head.

"We give it meaning in different ways," Shade replied, his expression stony. He didn't laugh along with her. He didn't even crack a small smile. He was unamused by the mortals' overused phrases anyway. He huffed, shaking his head. "I just agree that we disagree. I'm a pessimist, if you still can't tell."

Lauren shook her head "So be it. Though I don't believe viewing the cup half empty will help you do anything except be on your toes." she told him shrugging off her lame attempt to lighten his mood.

Shade narrowed his hazel eyes, knowing that the both of them wouldn't be able to mix ideals. "I feel that being negative helps you strive to improve, and keeps you careful. I'm more alert that way. It decreases the risk of my staying here...permanently." The son of Hades eyed her once he finished his sentence. "I think..I'll leave now. Sorry for...bothering you, Lauren Gray." He turned and strode briskly across the field.

Lauren blinked nodding as he left before she could reply. Calling after him she said "Ok! Bye Shade!" she yelled before turning and heading off in the opposite direction to the tower she had been, she wasn't sure how long ago, painting.
