Silene hated summer. It was when the hot- too hot- for her. And if it was anything she hated most, it was heat. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You don't like me, do you? Then again, you're pretty unfriendly to everyone."
"What do you want, Aaron Shade?" Silene turned around at the quiet voice, raising an arched eyebrow.
"Um, I would prefer you just call me Shade. I just...wonder why you don't like talking to other people." The Hades cabin leader sat down gently, making her wonder why he even was the leader. But she knew. They all knew. It was because he worked well with others, and he was rationally kind.
"You're wasting your time, Shade." She replied coolly, turning away. He caught her by the wrist just as she was leaving the water's edge. The air around her literally froze, and the water condensed into droplets on her hand, turning to frost. She didn't pull away. She sensed Shade pulling out the black flame on his hand just in case he had to defend himself from any ice coming his way.
"You're not a cruel person. Why don't you have any friends?"
The words had an instantaneous effect. She pulled away quickly with a hostile hiss and a murderous green glare. "You're wasting your time," she repeated icily, turning away before he could say anything else. [/blockquote] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Silene opened her winter green eyes, a mist beginning to form around her. "Friends," she scoffed, "are useless. Look at you now, you who thought they were your world. Now you have abandoned them." She raised her arms, then spun suddenly, sharply, molding ice into existence around her. She shot it directly into the middle of the lake, freezing a thick portion just because she wanted something to take her anger out on. The reaction from the Naiads was a little amusing, and she stood there out of their reach just to mock them. "Am I really not cruel?" She whispered, asking herself.

Zeke hadn't relaxed in days. Or, rather, not as much as usual. He, like his cabin leader, hated the heat of the summer - it was a family trait. He looked for a place away from everyone but found numbers were up this summer and everyone was everywhere. The only relatively peaceful place was the lake - only because people seemed to be steering away from Seline.
Of course, Zeke, being possibly the most idiotic camper here in some ways, knew no bounds and decided to approach despite her obvious bad mood. "If you're planning on using your powers, at least make a nice, comfy blizzard or something," he groaned, seeing her shoot a large ice shard into the lake, surprising some unfortunate naiads. To demonstrate, he created a small ice-storm above him and Seline, cooling the air by about 20 degrees.

Silene was stuck in her world. Her stormy mood was evident, and it didn't help when Zeke approached. The sound of his voice nearly triggered her reaction to send ice daggers through him. But she didn't. She stood by the water soundlessly. Finally, with a wave of her hand, the ice that had frozen over the lake turned to a fine mist. It moved in a thick white sheet, rolling over the grass and then wrapping itself around her and her cabinmate.
The temperature around the two dropped sharply to subzero. Behind this thick white wall, no campers could see what was happening. She hoped she wouldn't kill this boy in that time. He would have to annoy her to the point of attacking in the first place. The daughter of Khoine glared at Zeke, trying her best to keep a level head. "Does this suit you better?" Silene asked icily, "What do you want? You're wasting your time here. If you're going to bother someone or cause trouble, do it somewhere else." She always had to keep an eye on him, even clean up after some of his messes- they usually involved ice anyway.

Zeke took a deep breath of the cooler air, letting out a sigh. "Hey! I'm not always causing trouble... it's just a favorite pastime of mine," he laughed, for once no hint of coldness and cruelty in his tone. "Of course, everyone gets tired of doing the same thing over and over, eventually. I thought it was about time I take a quick break from it," he shrugged, lowering himself to the ground, beside his cabin leader. He wasn't about to give up on his entire trouble-making deal but, since he'd started hanging around Renate more, he'd gone a bit soft. HE was, however, willing to stop for a few hours and take a break in such hot weather. It affected his powers too much.
You see, Seline's mother was the goddess of ice. That made her powers more simple. However, Zeke's father was the god of not only ice, but winter as well. This meant his powers fluctuated more throughout the year, a different strength in each season. Now, it was early summer - some of the hottest days of the year. This meant it took a lot more energy to use his powers. He needed to relax a bit more.

Silene bit her lip, the mist clearing just slightly, but the temperature remained for comfort. Cautiously, she took a seat a few feet away from him, studying his expression. He was different, not in the mood for a sarcastic mood or some kind of cruel joke just to agitate. She appreciated it for now. Her cabin so far had been giving her nothing but trouble. Nick was just as bad as Zeke, though his messes were more cleverly done, whereas Zeke was just plain displayed vandalism or something of the type.
"You're taking a break," she repeated, not really believing it, though she knew it was possible, "and you're not wrecking havoc or starting another fight with Miss Silver. That's some improvement." Silene smiled wryly at her comment, her winter green eyes still latched on the son of Boreas. "So, have you figured out where you came from yet?" she brang up his past, having always been curious about it.

(Haha funny you bring up his past. Me and Kat were working on it earlier. Zeke and Juliette are brother and sister, now!)
Zeke smiled as Seline mentioned improvement. "Oh, trust me, this is only temporary," he said, knowing he wasn't done messing with Silver, yet. When she brought up his past, however, he grew a bit more serious. "I try not to think about it," he said. "The few parts I have come to remember don't make sense. I see people, but not faces. They're all a blur. And the environment is all so foreign," he admitted, giving her most of the truth. Of course, he did not remember much but what he did remember was foreign but not the foreign one would think he meant. Given it was strange, yes, but he meant it was not of America. He recognized a couple buildings as ancient European ones but that was all he could remember. It didn't make any sense to him so he tried to brush it off as a memory of a trip to a museum or of a painting he saw, once.

(Whoah, that's cool XD. I read how it's gonna play out. For Silene, I plan to have her on the Hades sad, unfortunately. She doesn't like her mother that much. I'm stuck on where to send her.)
"That's unfortunate," Silene admitted, deciding that she liked the Zeke beside her more than the one that gave her trouble to deal with. But then again, if that side of him didn't exist, her life as a cabin leader would be very boring indeed.
The daughter of Khoine tilted her head in puzzlement. "So you don't remember anything. That's odd." Something by now should have triggered memories for h, but nothing had come up yet for him. That was too bad. She still slightly felt a caring responsibility for the boy, having literally bossing about for his whole life here at camp. "There's a storm coming. I can feel it." She looked up at the clear blue sky that the camp had year round. It didn't matter, she knew something was going to happen.

(Hm... I suppose there do need to be some nature demigods staying at camp. I'm only having Zeke go because some of the people he likes to torture are going... plus I have to have him go to meet Juliette. He's gonna be really upset since Renate isn't allowed to join them.)
Zeke smiled, knowing most would prefer this side of Zeke rather than his usual, crueler side. "Well, someone has to keep life at camp interesting," he pointed out, grin stretching across his face.
Zeke nodded in agreement, wishing he could learn more about his past but knowing as much as he did was enough to satisfy him at least until he began to remember more. "The memories will return, eventually," he said, leaning back on a small wall of ice, perfectly sculpted to himself for maximum comfort. "A storm?" he asked, first thinking of a physical storm with lightning and clouds and such. Then, he realized waht Seline meant. "We'll be ready," he said, not completely sure, himself, but knowing he should say something. "There are campers more than capable to face anything thrown at us." Whether he'd like to admit it, or not, he wasn't necessarily the most powerful demigod, here (though he was pretty close). No, there are some who rival his power - Silver, Matt, Kat, and Seline, herself. Even powerless Renate posed a huge threat to any opponent she could face. He didn't see any problems the campers couldn't overcome. Then again, he was no Oracle. No one could foretell what was about to come.

(Well, there's gonna be a Shade-Silene kind of relationship going on was the plan...but not too sure how it's gonna work out. But if he asks Silene, she will watch Renate for him. XD)
Silene sighed in exasperation, "You and I have very different definitions for interesting, Zeke." She glanced over at her cabinmate, giving him one of her incredibly rare smiles, and for a moment, she could have been beautiful, gorgeous even.
"Would he be considered a friend?" The sudden thought hit her. "No, he's just...he's just a thorn in my side that sticks." It was as if she had stated it in her mind just to ward of that curse of hers.
Zeke had turned his head to look at her with some puzzlement. She nodded, repeating her words. "A storm. Do not underestimate the Fates. They are rather cruel with their surprises sometimes." She didn't doubt their power. The camp had demigods with an assortment of skills. Even the weakest had their strong points, and the strong were stronger. "We had a cabin leader meeting upon Terry and Tina's return the other day (is making this up). We had Tina speak as a witness. Hades is growing bold." She said quietly.

(I was thinking Seline and Shade would make sense. And I guess Zeke and Seline could get a bit closer because, as of right now, Zeke really wouldn't trust her with something that important to him...)
Zeke chuckled, a shrug being his only reply. Despite what people say, Seline seemed like a very nice person to Zeke and he enjoyed her company, whether he'd admit it or not. He couldn't understand why she was so cold to people when they tried to be kind to her. At the very least, she was a very interesting cabin leader.
At the mention of the Fates, Zeke nodded. He knew how cruel they could be, though not from personal experience. He simply knew them by reputation like many camper knew Zeke. He still hadn't tormented every camper, here, but most all feared him. Everyone, it seemed, but the more powerful ones - the demigods who could actually face him in battle with a chance of victory. They weren't quite as afraid. "How so?" he asked. "I know it's 'getting bold' to kidnap a camper but it isn't quite unheard of. After all, Hades is famous for kidnapping daughters of Demeter," he pointed out, referencing the myth of Persephone.

(Yup, it's not like he trusts anyone else more than her. Certainly not Silver or Nick XD)
Silene hesitated for a moment before replying. "Tina has updated us with some news that Shade is underneath Hades' control. The god has the ability to...modify his somehow. Shade has to have some link to his father for that to happen. Why is he so desperate for a demigod pawn?" For a moment, a hint of worry touched her voice. It was evident that it wasn't just the future in general she was concerned about.
"Terry also reported that he overheard talks of an upcoming war. The Council of Gods was over a while ago, but we have had no words from any of our parents. Something is wrong." Her voice was bitter at the mention of the gods, as if they were to blame. She had a good amount of scorn for her mother, and that anyone could tell.

(That's true...)
Zeke was taken aback by this news. Hades could alter and erase memories? How was this possible? He'd never heard of such a thing before from any god or goddess other than perhaps Mnemosyne (which, by the way, if I ever feel the urge to make another demigod, she will probably be its parent... I've wanted to do a son of Mnemosyne for a while... y'know, to really screw with people lol).
"Since when could Hades do such a thing?" he asked, unable to grasp the fact. "He's god of the Underworld, Wealth, the Dead, and all that but not of memories." Then, the mention of a war. "Well, if there is a war, I don't think the demigods should be forced to become involved. It's not our problem if the gods are fighting amongst each other," he pointed out, wanting to stay out of the war not out of fear but out of a grudge towards the gods. He blamed them for what happened to him, despite him not even being sure how his memory loss came to be. Honestly, though, he was glad. Had he not wound up here, he would never have met Renate.

(Almost every camper seems mean now.... XD)
"That's true, but we came up with the only option. Shade is somehow linked to his father. He must have...sworn loyalty or something, like Artemis and her eternally bound Hunters. He might have exchanged his liberty for something else. I think power. But why he would do that...I don't know. It was so sudden." Especially with the fact that he had randomly turned on the questers in the middle of their trip. That wasn't right. It was too simultaneous. There was something off about the whole thing, or maybe she was just paranoid, and worried (though she would never admit it.)
Silene huffed at his words, "Naive, Zeke, I'd expect you to think past that. We are the gods' only army, if you remember. We fight for them. Whenever they want to have a war, we are dragged into their conflict. It has always been that way." She turned an icy cold gaze on the son of Boreas, sounding prophethetic and foreboding. "They will remember you if you dont pitch in."

(Haha not really. 4 of them are. Zeke, Seline, Nick, and Silver. And Nick is moving to SCA soon, where he'll die... I think that's what Matt planned for him....)
Zeke shook his head, not knowing the answer to Seline's apparently many questions. She seemed to be really caught up in this boy. Perhaps there was something going on between them before Shade left on the quest. Zeke wasn't sure, but he was planning on looking into it, out of curiosity. "There must be an explanation for Shade's sudden turn of loyalty. I suppose we still know only part of it, though I'm confident the missing pieces to the puzzle will find their way to us one way or another," he sighed, wary of what was to come.
"So what if we are the gods' army - we didn't enlist. Are we really supposed to fight for them because they're our parents?" Zeke asked, slightly angered, though this rage not directed toward Seline, but toward the gods. "They didn't raise us or teach us much. A lucky few of us are able to speak to them once or twice during our entire lifetimes and an even fewer amount receive some sort of gift or anything from them," he pointed out. "Yet you are telling me we should be prepared to lay down our lives because they're having an argument? If I can, I'm going to stay neutral through what is to come. Let the gods keep to themselves their problems and not spread them to their children. Let their children have a life of their own, make their own decisions, and not be forced into things just because their mother or father just so happens to be the god of this and the goddess of that." Zeke finished this rant with a simple huff of frustration which was in no way related to the current situation.
He hated the gods because he knew they had the power to restore his memories. He was glad he came to Camp and met Renate and everything, but he wanted to know his past. He wanted to know where he came from. He couldn't stand not knowing what he did in his past, before Camp Half-Blood. He saw this as a weakness and did his best to cover it up by brushing it off and acting like a jerk to everyone he came into contact with. It was more of a defense mechanism than a true personality trait, though this mischievous, dangerous side to him was slowly becoming more and more what he identified himself as which was, in a way, what he hoped to achieve.

"In my experience, no answers come easily." Silene replied quietly, disagreeing with the son of Boreas about the matter.
In truth, Zeke's sudden hatred to the gods didn't surprise her. She didn't like them that much as well, and she agreed with him. But she wasn't him. She knew their ways, and how they did things. the gods were beings not to be trifled with. "If this something endangered the ones you cared for, wouldn't you join? Zeke, they have it their way most of the time. It's just slightly noticeable, but if I can tell, then Aphrodite can. What of Renate?"
(Sorry, short)
