(Haha, it's okay. I wasn't expecting you to make a 3 paragraph reply. That was just mostly Zeke on a rant.)
Zeke's usual ability to retaliate with a good answer left him at the mention of Renate. He said nothing, nor could think of anything to say, in response. He was left utterly speechless. It was true, he'd do just about anything for her. He was ashamed to admit it but the mighty Zeke Winters had a soft spot for a certain daughter of Ares.

Silene, usually one to jump to the advantage of coldly warning others of the naivety of falling in love was instead agreeably silent along with Zeke. Finally, she gave him a small smile. "Alright, so I had guessed correct. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Even if the gods don't want their children involved, others do. That's why we mainly fight, to protect." She had hidden a part of her past as well from others, but she found that her cabin mate should know eventually. Maybe some other time, when she felt ready to tell. She had taken his "secret" in a way. He had deserved one of hers. She still remembered entering her cabin, finding Shade holding a golden locket. "You dropped this by the lake." Silene had stormed over, snatching it away from him with a furious hiss. The temperature had frozen around them, and she could see his breath float the color white in the air. "You looked inside, didn't you?" Her voice was dangerously lethal. The son of Hades was startled, and he couldn't meet her gaze. "Who is that? She looks a lot like you." The temperature returned to normal, and Silene began to cry.

Zeke smiled, knowing Seline's words to be true. They were, in a way, comforting. He needed some reassurance about the future. With everything that had happened, lately, things seemed to be spinning out of control and no one could put order to the chaos. Seline was no exception. Her words were reassuring but they did not resolve the problems going on around them. Reality still ran its course through time around them. Every second, the Camp was thrown into more and more disarray.
Little by little, piece by piece, the world seemed to be falling apart. So many betrayals and so many deaths. The only solution, it seemed, for all campers was to simply try to ignore it. Mourn for those lost and move on as quickly as possible. "And who do you protect?" he asked, voice calm and smooth, without a trace of bitterness or resent. He seemed to accept Seline more and more as a friend each time he talked to her, rather than an annoying authority figure to give him orders. Zeke needed a few friends.

The question caught her off guard, and she was silent for a long while. For a moment, a small piece of crystal ice just floated above her palm, suspended in the air. She finally looked up, deciding that she couldn't leave his answer, well, unanswered. "I fight for everyone, and in a way, only myself." Silene was quiet, unsure of how to explain before she continued, "I protect only what I have a responsibility for. Other than that, I am typically neutral. My ideals don't matter. It is what is most logical of a decision. It was what my mother taught me when I was raised."
The daughter of Khoine fingered the tiny locket around her neck. A piece of solid white ice hung around the golden chain. "Everyone I care about is gone. My mother has given me this curse so that I will remain strong. If I make a good enough of a friend that will sway my actions in terms of emotions, they will be claimed by the Fates. This-" She tugged hard, and the chain popped free, "is something that I entrust to the people I care for, that care for me. But it always, always, comes with a cost, and he touched it." Her expression saddened, and her green eyes dimmed. With the click of a button, the ice popped open, and the picture of a white haired girl smiling and slinging her arm across a young Silene's shoulders appeared. She had the same green eyes, and could easily be mistaken for her.

(Sorry it took so long to reply. I was changing a few light-bulbs throughout my room.... I seriously have 25 light-bulbs in my room and bathroom! So it took a while...)
Every trace of childishness and cruelty had passed from Zeke's expression, now. He was truly sincere and wanted to make sure Seline knew she wasn't completely alone. He may not always be the kindest toward her, but he didn't hate her. In truth, he didn't truly hate anyone. He wasn't exactly fond of each person at Camp but Seline was the closest person he had to a friend. He saw her almost as a sister. They didn't always agree and they weren't constantly around each other, but he still would fight to protect her and knew he could rely on her if he needed to.
With this news, however, Zeke was afraid perhaps he was becoming close enough to her this curse would come to affect him and the Fates would cut his string. However, he was mostly immune to such curses as the Fates had something more in store for him. Then, he noticed the picture. "Is that... your mother?" he asked, seeing a resemblance between them nearly identical but not quite.

(A lot of lightbulbs. O.O)
"No." Silene replied simply, and a bit grudgingly. "My mother would never show affection. This was...my sister." She had half a mind to crush the locket along with the picture before, but she couldn't really. Oddly, only those she cared about stumbled upon this, and they touched it. Bad luck began from there, and then their downfall.
"This was the first present from my mother. She told me to keep my most important item within here. And I did. Now I cannot destroy or get rid of it. And whoever comes in contact..." She trailed off.

(Haha I know... but I live in the basement so I need a lot of light-bulbs... And, yes, I am a nerd living in my parent's basement. Make all the jokes you want, I'll probably use them myself, someday! Haha)
"Oh..." was all Zeke could say. There was nothing else to say. He wished he could give her reassurance, but he still didn't know the whole story. He was afraid if he'd say something, he'd just make things worse. "If you don't mind... could I ask what happened?" He always heard 'the quickest way to recover was to tell others about your problems' or something along those lines. Of course, he never followed this advice - he was about as secretive as an amnesiac could get - but he figured Seline did need someone to talk to. She didn't seem to have any friends and he now knew why. Still, she needed someone - everyone does. Maybe Zeke could be the one to listen to her. Could he manage that without being the next victim of her curse?

(Harry Potter style! , jkjkjk. I don't have a basement in my house.) Silene sighed, shaking her head, "I'm a murderer, Zeke. Shade's not the only one. I killed her." Her winter green eyes studied the laughing face of her bright sister. "She was always so positive. She helped me believe, and she introduced me to others. I had friends for the greatest time." She returned the chain around her neck and started moving ice around herself again with a lack of something better to do. "My sister tried to kill me for an unknown reason, but it ended up the other way around. All my so called friends scattered when the saw what I had done. I am destined to be alone."

(Really? I think everyone should have a basement in case of a tornado or something. I mean we don't get very many tornadoes where I live since we're in the foothills of mountains but they still are a possibility. About once a year there are always really strong wind and a high risk of a tornado... so just in case, I'll take a basement! Especially the one we have, now! It's all decorated like a castle! It's really cool. I even have swords in my room, hanging on the wall!)
Zeke shook his head, gently placing a hand on Seline's shoulder. "You're never alone, Silene," he said, softly. "I'm sure you didn't mean it and I can see you regret your decision. You're a good person, you're just... unfortunate," he told her, trying to reassure his cabin leader. He wasn't an expert, though, as he hadn't reassured many people since he arrived at camp other than himself, so he wasn't sure just how good he was at it.
(I just realized I've been spelling Silene wrong this entire time! Oops...)

Silene immediately shrugged away his touch, uncomfortable by it. "Just remember well, Zeke, don't act like my friend, and no matter what, do not touch this." She clenched the ice jewel in her fist tightly, staring at him with her icy eyes. She held his gaze for a long enough time for her expression to soften.
"But I appreciate it. If you need any favors, I will help. I just worry that this is all at my fault." She glanced around them, the still calmness betraying the chaos brewing.
(Swords?! That's pretty cool of a room XD. I think we need a basement cuz our area gets tornadoes too, but we don't have one.)

(Haha I know I love it!)
Zeke took his hand away, casually crossing his arms, instead. He made note not to ever touch or allow anyone else to touch Silene's locket. "It's not your fault. How could it be? The gods always have their feuds and this is no different. Just because Shade touched the locket doesn't mean what happened to him was a result of the curse. Hades is the one to blame for this, from what Tina said." Zeke's eyes flashed coldly as he mentioned Hades. They always did at the mention of a god. Usually, however, his eyes are already cold and no one ever seems to take notice.
"The gods have created this and not through a curse," he told her, hoping she would not blame herself. "There's nothing we can do about it but that doesn't mean we blame ourselves. You don't know for sure it was this curse so don't pin the fault upon yourself."
(You think when the Kingdom of Earth opens up that Silene could tell Zeke to go or something to look after the other campers or something like that? He needs some reason to leave Renate.)

(Yeah, sure.)
"There is an advantage to admitting your faults and taking responsibility." Silene replied with an even voice, the ice starting to fly all around. It formed a whirling sphere surrounding the two, like high speed blades crossing. "It gives you motivation to fight. Aaron Shade has no need for death. He controls it."
She stood, gazing at the water of the lake, and then back to Zeke. "What do you believe? I am guilty as a murderer because I drove my sword through my sister. I want to make up for it by protecting what is my responsibility. I have a reason to fight this war, and if the time ever comes, will you join?"

(Thanks!)
Zeke stood, as well, thinking for a moment. "I'll join the war," he began, "but not to fight for the gods, but to fight for those who would fight for me." With a flash of a smile, he turned, willing the ice Silene was toying with to fly above him. He made his way back to the camp, sending a small shard of ice flying at an unlucky camper.

(Welcome!)
Silene smirked at his response, slightly satisfied by his answer and his never-changing attitude. She sighed as he took control over her ice, but she let it slip onto him without any complaints. She headed off in another direction, towards Chiron to report her cabin status. It was the first day of the week, and she had just gained another incident because of Zeke. Life never really got old.
