The questers had returned earlier that day. And their sight was great everybody rejoiced...for a moment. Lauren Gray, Apollo cabin leader, was dead. Poisoned when she saved them some say. Others say died from illness, since they saw her leave a different person. A few call it suicide. But whatever the reason nothing would change. She was dead.
Matthew Erikson stood on the pure holding the fire up. His green eyes full of sorrow as he watched people come up and cut some hair off and give their last wishes. They normally didn't have the ancient ceremony for deaths. But she deserved the honor, or at least to the questers she did. Her sky blue eyes were closed two golden drachmas laying on her eyes like pearls. Her light hair surrounding her as if a memory of a happier time when she lived...

(Hope you don't mind, but no one can notice Shade here.)
Shade was watching from the shadows, completely blended into the darkness, cloaking himself from everyone. He watched the funeral progress warily. This girl had died saving the questers, an idiotic reason to die saving them. But there had to be a reason they all seemed rather innocent, and not harmful. He just kept his gaze on the progression, wondering just what was about to happen and why. He was thrown into this confusing chaos.
Terry- The son of Hermes couldn't really look at Lauren. He couldn't help but feel guilty that this was all his fault. He had been virtually useless. He couldn't stop Shade, gotten injured, and was of no use because of that to fight the Python. He narrowed his damp eyes. He hadn't cried yet because he simply couldn't, but maybe he would later.

She'd just arrive at camp yesterday and people, correction, kids were dying?! She stood away from the group of campers and watched the funeral with wary eyes. Nike didn't know what to think.
It was really devastating that kids died. Then again she hadn't known the girl so she didn't cry. But what about the rest of them?? What was waiting for them?? She did t want to think about it.

Julien came running from the cabins. He had just heard of Lauren's death as he'd been in the cabin for most of the day and hadn't seen much of anyone. "How did this happen!?" he nearly screamed at a camper, tears filling his eyes. He'd been talking to her a few days ago. He'd found they had many things in common. They both wore a mask, shielding their true selves from the rest of camp. Now, she was dead. The one person who truly understood pain and misery was dead before he'd even gotten to become close with her. He wasn't sure what to think. He was angry. Angry at the questers, angry at the gods for allowing this to happen, and angry at himself for not spending more time with Lauren. Now, the next time he would see her would be in the Underworld. Who am I kidding? She'll be sent to the Isle of the Blest while I'm in Asphodel, he thought. I won't even see her in death.

Terry looked up as Julien came running in. He flinched at the look on his face, which displayed fury. He nearly choked on his guilt. How did this happen? Well, she had given up herself to protect her friends. She had fought the Python seemingly understanding that it was her fate. What was worst was, they couldn't reverse the outcome, and it was the thing he wished he could do most right now.
"She died...fighting for us. I'm sorry, Julien, we didn't have anything to nullify the poison, and she..." Terry broke off, feeling unable to explain the situation as well.

Julien realized this was one of the questers - probably the reason he hadn't known who, exactly, it was. Upon the realization, he began not to yell, but to whisper. "Was it worth it? Are you worth it?" he asked, hatred filling his voice. He finally thought he'd met someone who understood him and how he felt and now... now she was dead. She died fighting for a group of kids stupid enough to not take precaution.

Terry flinched at his tone, picking out the hatred that stung at him. He kept his light blue gaze on the grass, not being able to meet his gaze. Had they really been worth it? Lauren didn't have to help them, did she? And even if she did, did she really have to die? Would it be better if he had? "I...I don't know...I don't know..." The son of Hermes had no answer. He knew Julien was probably one of her closest friends for him to be this angry. That just made it hurt all the more because it reminded him of Shade. "I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." He didn't know what else to say, only to apologize.

Julien's anger did not waver. "You should be," was his only reply before walking away toward Lauren's corpse, but not being able to gather the courage to look at it. Instead, as he neared it, he just stopped, at the edge of the crowd, and began to cry. He hadn't even been that close to her. It was just the hope that she might become a close friend, a real friend. Everyone at Camp had someone whether it be a friend or more than that. All Julien had was a younger half-sister to look after, an older half-sister he'd never met, and the hope that Lauren might understand his life and how he felt. Instead, he found his younger sister had already found someone to talk to - Cascade - and Lauren had died fighting for a disappointing older half-sister. Julien's life was officially a living hell.

Tina watched at the edge, not believing that it was Julien up there. He looked so torn, so...angry. It hurt her to see him like that, and before she knew it, she had run up to him, looking up with watery eyes. One of her small hands had closed in a tight fist, the bottom of his shirt in her grip. "Julien...Julien...Don't cry, please..." She herself was beginning to have tears sliding down her cheeks as well.
Silene~ She watched the procession calmly, modestly. Her expression was cold. The Apollo cabin leader was dead. It was a loss, a stupid, useless loss that maybe could have been prevented. Julien's scene was unbearable to watch, and she lowered her gaze as well.

Justin- the son of Aphrodite didn't speak. Didn't move. His brown eyes lowered when Julien screamed. His heart sunk when they all wept. Lauren was a friend. A bright cheerful friend. So why did the Fates take her?
Matthew- watched the fire lick her body the dusk surrounding them as her father watched from afar. The burning pyre a reminder of Lauren, who sacrificed her life for them...he was too far to hear Julien's words. But the scream reached his ears. His green eyes closing.
Nick- was the only person who found this good news. Lauren Gray a daughter of Apollo under his command now? He didn't smile due to his current location. But tonight would be a fun night for Julien...and Nick was very excited...

Kathrine had heard Julienne and nearly attacked him. Her green eyes blazing in fury "Who are YOU to say the purpouse wasn't worth it. When the quest began everybody knew people would die. But we never thought it would be Laurent. She came and gave her life defending her friends. She gave her life defending for a good reason." Her voice dry and venomous "So you tell me. Is yelling at a newly returned quested worth it at a FUNERAL?!" Her voice raised slightly. She had no idea this was son of Demeter, she figured he must be a minor god. But she wouldn't know.

Julien managed an angry grin through his tears. "Well, you must be Kat. I thought older siblings were supposed to be role models, not responsible for a friend's death," he said in a whispery voice still loud enough to be heard by those around. "Tell me, are you proud? Are you enjoying this? You're responsible - all you questers are. You could have prevented all this but, no. Let me guess, you just stood by and watched, right?" Now, he was done with the quiet, striving to keep calm tone. Instead, he repeated himself in a shout, "Am I right!?"

Tina gripped onto Julien' shirt tighter now, still crying. "Julien, stop..." She didn't like him like this. He sounded so angry, and she didn't want him to be mad. She wanted him to be Julien again, the one that smiled and was cheerful. He was scaring her, and she couldn't help but starting to hiccup through her tears.

Kat glared at him trees growing wildly as roots shot from the ground threatening to suffocate him "well are little brothers suppose to be like you. Cause if so ill teach you disapline quite quick." Her voice furious. "And you know what kid. It wasn't like I saw YOU there fighting the Python. It wasn't like YOU carry around dragon poison antidote and saved her. But YOU are the one spitting on her honor. She died believing in what she was doing. She did like she was supposed to do. Do you think the Fates haven't planned this?! Cause it certainly is NOT our fault for going on a quest while YOU stayed in your comfortable life." She regretted the words. For his sake. He wasn't her brother. But to him she was his older sister.

Tina stood in front of Julien, watching the plants grow out. "Stop it!" She almost screamed, and the plants paused for a moment. But it wasn't like she had the power to completely make them back off. She was new to her powers after all.
