(um...you can xD lol. But if you want me to that's cool as well xDDD)
Jackie rolled her eyes "Well at least your admitting something," she said with a snort as she watched his blade ready to move to the side and inject the poison when he strikes. But the shadow was growing alarming. She frowned "I don't see why attempting to scare me is useful if your the one with the sword," she told him plainly. How did he know she wasn't...fond of shadows? Her blue eyes narrowed. He didn't seem to have claws so he couldn't be the one she was looking for, could he?

(alright, prepare to be abducted by a monster! xD)
Arcane was just about to sacrifice his possible friendship and possibly his life, if Jackie decided to attack him - though he would just reform in a few years - and lunge forward at the monster, but it moved first. In one quick motion, it grabbed the hood of Jackie's jacket and pulled her into the shadows of the alley. "Jackie!" Arcane yelled, running in after her. He would be next to useless in the lack of light in his mortal form but he couldn't become a dragon, could he?

Jackie felt startled as someone or something grabbed her from behind. She was being kidnapped! Great... Annoyence shone in her eyes as she tried to get away from whatever the thing was but the dark alley made her stumble and fall as it continued dragging her away. Great. So this was what the boy was o hyped up about...she thought as she tried to reach into her jacket pocket but they were moving too fast and she couldn't grab a hold of her blade without nearly dropping it.

Arcane ran into the darkness, but couldn't exactly just swing his sword around as it could hit Jackie. Then, Arcane came to a realization. The sword was Celestial Bronze, a substance most monsters would run from. But he'd taken it from a Persian demigod and decided to keep it as normal mortal metals don't harm the gods. If Jackie was truly mortal, which Arcane sensed to be true as most monsters can tell if your monster, mortal, demigod, or god based on smell, including this son of Ladon. "Jackie?" he called. Thinking he heard something behind him, he swung but made no contact.

Jackie fumbled around kicking and hitting whatever was holding her. Scowling in annoyence she replied with a sweet but clearly annoyed "Carter!" Her dagger seemed to become harder tl grab as she turned or half turned facing the strange darkness that covered the monster's face.

Arcane knew it was hopeless. He would have to give it his all and hope Jackie couldn't see. Throwing his sword on the ground, a mist, black as night, began to float from his body, enveloping him. Inside the mist, Arcane grew to twice his mortal size, his eyes changing shape and turning a pearl white. Claws began to extend from his fingertips, instead of fingernails. His clothes dissolved into mist and, soon, instead of Arcane, mortal-looking guy standing inside the mist, it was Arcane, son of the dragon Ladon within. His pearl eyes saw everything in the dark as vividly as they would in the light of midday sun. And he recognized the shape which had taken Jackie. She was all too familiar. It was his brother's girlfriend, no doubt doing his brother's dirty work so she could get a 'prize' at the end of the day. Extending his wings, Arcane let off the ground, silently, and flew off at astounding speeds toward the monster, extending a claw-wielding hand.

Jackie couldn't see. For one it was dark, second this mist was covering things up, and to add to it all everybody was moving quickly. She grabbed her dagger finally after the long struggle and spun around trying to see her opponent. Who seemed to be everywhere. But no where. Where's Carter? She wanted to run her dagger through the air and take down everything around her. But if Carter, who stayed to fight rather than run, was injured she would feel responsible. Great. She was stuck. Either get eaten or possibly harm Carter her eyes narrowed as she spotted something shiny but it soon faded on the dark mist. Maybe that was Carter? She wanted to make her way towards it but instead held the daggger firm awaiting just a brush against her so she could send the bronze straight through the creature.

(any ideas for a name? Or should I come up with one... which will actually have a first and last name unlike Arcane... I mean, I'll beat it in this post to keep things moving as they've been a little slow with the extended Arcane warning Jackie thing. But, we midas well give her a name since she'll show up, or at least be mentioned, again. xD)
Arcane swiped his claws out at the monster and bared his fangs. He was about to let out a roar, but that would defeat the purpose of the extra mist. Instead, he landed, silently, on the ground and reached out snapping his teeth at the monster. Eventually, though, the monster gained a little courage and swiped out, itself. But Arcane was fast and bit down on the arm, taking a chunk of it, which he spit out. The monster fled and Arcane transformed back into his mortal self, retrieved his sword, and made his way to where he remembered Jackie to be. "Jackie, c'mon," he whispered from behind her, the mist dissipating.

Jackie swung her dagger at him before thinking and blushed with a smile "Oops sorry...I suppose I owe you a thank you..." she said feeling embarrassed. How did she not manage to defend herself this whole time? This did make a blow at her self esteem but she couldn't help but feel grateful to Carter. Or whatever his name is. "I'm sorry for not listening earlier..." she added biting her lip feeling even more embarrassed. How did she manage to act like a fool?
(Um how about...Palmaria, it sounds old. And its a girls name...)

(Sounds good to me)
Arcane rested a hand on her shoulder, reassuringly. "It's okay. You had every right to be cautious what with you just getting out of a fight, which you really were quite good in, and immediately afterwards a strange boy walking up and talking to you and following you around as if you'd known him all your life." Sighing, he added, "I didn't lie, though. Well, yeah, I did. My mom is dead and I have talked to my dad in years.... And I didn't know a single person in the alley. And... well, I'm not mortal, not completely. But, hey, I am Italian!" he said, lightheartedly. "C'mon, let's go. I'll walk you home?"

Jackie smiled. Putting her dagger back into her jacket. His words automatically calmed her somehow the pink in her cheeks fading. She laughed "I suppose while we are confessing j should tell you both of my parents are dead. Murdered by a monster. I'm a assassin at night. Daughter of the major by day. And l am not a drug dealer in case you didn't know." She added the last part with a grin like a joke. "Anything else you lied about? Since you now know what I lied about?" Her eyebrow raised.
Grinning she shrugged "Sure, I need a wash this muck off me..." she said still smelling some of the monster from earlier. The stench repulsive to her.

"Both murdered by a monster?" Arcane asked, changing the topic. "Both of them?" He wasn't about to admit to being a monster, but would instead go with the next closest thing to being mortal other than actually being mortal: being a demigod. "Well, I guess I should tell you I'm a demigod, the son of Nyx," he said, his usual cover story as the powers and looks fit. He'd caught a glimpse of Nyx, once, a couple centuries ago. He looked similar enough to be related which, if you wanted to be technical, he was related to her, distantly.
Arcane smiled, walking out toward the light. Then, he remembered he had bitten the monster. He had blood in his mouth. He'd grown so used to the taste he didn't notice but he had to wash it out, somehow. With no water around, he had to settle for wiping it on his shirt, which he felt a little regret as this shirt was one of his favorites. Still, better a bloody shirt, hidden by a jacket, than a bloody mouth. Returning his sword to the strap he'd stitched onto his jeans, he stepped into the light, waiting for Jackie, who was right behind him.

Nyx? Jackie tried to picture the goddess unsuccessfully and she frowned slightly "Isn't she goddess of the night? Pr was ghat Selene?" In this topic. Of gods and goddessess, she packed little to no knwoledge. Her resources being a 5 years dead guy and a couple books she had to read for school.
Tilting her head to the side she was about to ask how the goddess died and where his father was but she shrugged the question away, just wanting to ger home. Stepping out behind him into the light. She could finally see him clearly "Thank you for your help..." she said again with a grin. Then started heading down the street and towards the bus station so she could ride a bus home. Since she did have to ride a car here due to the distance.

Arcane didn't realize he'd slipped reality into his lie. He still didn't. "Yeah, goddess of night," he sighed, adding, "Selene is goddess of the moon - well, titaness, but that's beside the point." Arcane turned forward, silent for a while. He was thinking about his past - about his father who'd abandoned him, long ago; about his mother, long dead because of a rather hungry baby Arcane who knew no better. He thought about his former homes. He'd lived everywhere from Roman Villas, to Greek Caves, to French Mansions, to the Sewers of New York City, now. Admittedly, they were clean for sewers - at least, they were where he stayed.
But he snapped back to reality when Jackie spoke again. "Not a problem," he grinned. "And I hope you know, this isn't the last time you see me," he said, turning away and walking down another alley. "I'll be around." Pausing, he turned back toward Jackie. "Bye," he said, flashing a quick smile before walking into the alley, where the shadows seemed to engulf him.

"Titaness? Ok..." she shrugged not wanting to talk about the history of his long and huge family. Her pace slowing as he spoke. Her blue eyes on the approaching taxi. She checked her watch. 10:40 it was late and it meant a bus to her place will arrive in 20 minutes. She glanced at Carter unsure if it would seem rude if she pulled over the taxi while he spoke. Deciding it wouldn't she halted the taxi opening the door as he finished speaking.
Jackie grinned at Carter "I would like to know how I'd run into you in such a huge city. But I suppose if your mother is night then you may be better at tracking things at night than most." she shrugged. Smiling brightly as he waved goodbye "See you some other time!" she called back before entering the cab. Closing the door behind her she have directions to the corner of the street where her house was. And soon enough she arrived to jog down the street and sneak through the small alley into the back garden of the house. Slipping into the grounds soundlessly and using a key on her window. Another night had infacy passed, rather odder than the rest, but passed.
