Jackie was no sweetheart, at least not while she worked. She was sneaky, craftsy, she was dangerous. Her dark hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, her blue eyes bright and framed with some black liner, the balance nice and a bit faint so all you can really notice is how bright her blue eyes were.
Smile sweet she walked through the dark alley and into a smaller alley. She knew exactly where to go. Message of a monster roaming this alley for stray humans reached her. Which was why she was here, as an assassin.
Her black jeans seemed to blend in with the dark and her green neon shirt read 'dare to resist authority.' Which wasn't her adoptive father's favorite, but it brought her amusement. Turning into the alley where the death supposedly occurred she walked forward fearlessly, a black varsity jacket covering her shirt. Her hands were in the pockets ready for an attack.
This was after all what she lived to do, kill both demi gods and monsters. Destroy everything that killed the innocent. She felt a prickle and stared straight at the shadow ahead. Normally a mortal will see a thief or a robber. She say and winged beast, she never bothered finding names for these victims.
Walking forward she pretended not to notice. Then she felt it grab her its teeth close to her skin. Without hesitating she pulled the bronze blade from her hair and sliced straight through the shadow. A strange liquid shed seen spill the floor covered her. Grinding her teeth she spat her hair out of her face. Yes this was her job, and it was messy. The monster howled in frustration and pulled a knife out of nowhere, unlike demi gods Jackie didn't have the advantage of feeling such a rush during a battle and unfortunately felt the blade slice through the top of her skin. Her wrist bleeding slightly from taking the impact and avoiding the blade hitting her face.
She didn't notice the blood, it will stop flowing soon enough. She lunged forward. Dagger in the neck of the shadow before it erupted in flames before her. Escaped. But catalyst wounded. What a bad day. And to add to that she smells like her excaped victim and her blood made it seem like she killed somebody. The blood having stooped flowing and rather just stained her hand. Figheting in her jacket she pulled out a napkin for emergencies and wiped the blood off before working on her jacket. And later wiping down her shirt.
"I can't wait until I get home..." she muttered deslretly wanting to get the monsters stench off. She grinder her teeth and walked out of the alley feeling disappointed. This was the sash job and they forgot to say that she monster can disappear. She headed towards tbr mall the night giving cover to many. Her eyes scanned the mall as if expecting a monster to leap out. "I'm so paranoid..." she muttered under her breath.

Arcane stepped forward in his human form to where no one, not even a demigod, could identify him as a monster. He had been in the alley a few moments ago - it was his favorite hunting ground. But there was an intruder - two, in fact - in his territory, however, and he was determined to be rid of them, both. Just as he was about to lunge at them and catch them by surprise, however, a fight erupted. It was strange to him, as he sensed this girl was mortal, without the slightest trace of godly lineage. Still, she came out of the fight victorious, with only a sliced wrist and monster's blood on her shirt and jacket to show any sign she had been in a rather dangerous conflict.
But the monster had gotten away, and this mortal was about to do the same unless he could do something about it. Walking up behind her, making himself take loud, uncareful steps, as if he were a mortal, he began to flirt a little. "Always talking to yourself?" he asked, kindly.

Jackie knew when to play a role in a play. She was to a certain extent an actress. Her bring blue eyes scanning him ans trying to find a sign that he was a a demi God or a monster. But seeing none she just smiled as if registering the fact he was talking to her rather than everybody else. "I suppose we can all be paranoid at times. " she flashed a brilliant smile.
"But how about you? Talking to strangers?" She grinned her mind picking up all movements to identify him. It was night after all, and she was still on assassin mode. So if he wasn't mortal...and was trying to pick up a snack...well today would be his last day...

Arcane walked a little faster, so he was stepping side-by-side with this girl. "Well, I like to take risks," he joked, flashing a brilliant smile. He made sure he was always alert, though, as he'd seen what this girl can do and he didn't feel like taking a trip to Tartarus, any time, soon.
His sword was at his side, opposite that of the mortal beside him, and hidden away within a rather long jacket. Arcane was sure to walk with a normal gait to where no one could tell there was a metal blade at his side. He'd practiced this skill for centuries and it came naturally, now. He could look like a normal teenager living a mortal life right up until he makes his move for the kill. And that's just what he was planning to do.

Jackie smiled her laugh in the air "well I'm more of a risk than pressumed. I'm Jackie Robbin." She told him. Not caring if she recognized her name in a secret message announcing her job as a assasin or wether he saw a article abouts her being adopted by the major but refusing to take his last name.
Her pace was casual. To her atleast. Studying him she said "So what are you? 17, 18? Shouldn't you be with friends or something." This was always the question she asked. His actions nor being carefully analyzed and she stopped to face him. Her blue eyes seemed innocent. But her smile was a bit bold and brave. Her posture was relaxed as of seeing no threat in him but her hands in her black varsity jacket were wrapped around a small poisonous needle. Her favorite. Dipped in cobra venom. Hard to come by may I add. It could kill demi gods. Which could be this boy. Or it could kill a drunk mortal. Which wasn't him obviously, but a prickle made her feel abit uncomfortable around him.

Arcane smiled. When the girl introduced herself, Arcane knew he couldn't just say 'I'm Arcane, son of the dragon Ladon. I'm going to eat you.' But he didn't hesitate. He used the same name he usually did, though he hadn't used it in over a century, now. "I'm Carter," he said, smiling. "Carter Velius... it's Italian." Maybe she'd take that last bit as a way to impress her. After all, from what Arcane had observed, Italians were pretty popular and romantic. They tasted rather good, too.
When Jackie asked his age, Arcane nearly said '2,000', but stopped himself, not a moment later, instead turning the hesitation quickly into dismay over his loneliness. Laughing, he said "I'm only 16. Why? You looking for older guys, instead of someone like me?" Grinning to make sure she took it as a joke and not him revealing he liked her (which the only way he would truly ever like her would be barbecued), he continued. "As for my friends... they sorta ditched me.... Long story." When Jackie stopped, Arcane turned to her with innocent eyes that made him look harmless but still capable of defending himself. Just... harmless to an assassin, which is just about the exact opposite of what he was. "Haha, what?" he asked, lightheartedly, in a tone as if he didn't know she was just studying him.

Jackie knew the Italians. And the French (who are on no way romantic) so her eyes narrowed but she said nothing. His hesitation. Was he nervous? Or did he catch himself before he slipped the truth. She whistled and added a cocky smile her thoughts not very similar to her words "16? Kids." She snorted "seventeen. And proud. But no actually I didn't come her to search for a guy. If I needed one ill go to a dating service or something." She shrugged her eyes not wavering as she studied his.
She didn't have any powers. She couldn't tell the lies he said from the truth. And was simply awaiting a sign. Demi gods have it so easy, at least they get powers to help them. Friends? She snickered "I'm not doing anything important at the moment. So you can tel your tale to a stranger." Her voice expressing slight curiosity whereas she hoped to have him slip up in his act.

Arcane was a master at improvisation. He could go into so much detail he could tell you where each stain was on a carpet that didn't even exist without hesitation. "Well, I guess I sorta ditched them, I guess," he admitted wit a shrug. "We were all walking around, heading home after watching a movie downtown. But Austin... one of my friends... he walked into a store and I saw him picking up a pack of cigarettes and a six pack of beer. He took it to the clerk and pulled out what I figured was his fake ID, and handed the clerk some money." Pausing for a moment to sigh, he continued. "I'd smoked before and just about threw up after the first puff... I know, pathetic... but anyways, I also have some pretty strict parents. So, I acted like I didn't see him pick 'em up and just turned to everyone else and said I had to go. They know my parents and figured I'd be grounded if I stayed out much longer... and when I get grounded it's for the rest of whatever season it is... winter, now, I guess. Anyways, so I left and... here I am." He figured that would go for a story. Went pretty smoothly, even 'accidentally' adding his fake friend's name into the story and replacing it with one of my friends after 'catching himself'.

Jackie's eyebrow raised devising to store the story for later. "Strict parents? I know what you mean." She said playing along and letting some of her own feelings come out. A act to test him.
If anything you should know about Jackie was that she was clever. Her smile seemed calm and genuine as of she were around a familiar person. Not someone she was thinking about killing. Starting to walk once more she spoke "so what are you doing hanging around a mall rather than being a good little boy? Buying some new clothes or something for a girlfriend." Honestly she had no romantic interest in him. Unless a sweet poison was romantic. Which to her could be Since romance was all a joke.
She walked past a small bench running a hand on it without much thought. It was her sort of it. To check she was still alive and that the deaths of her parents and Isaac were all just a horrible twsited nightmare. Isaac the old man who raised her taught her how to fight. He turned the 7 hear old onto a lethal weapons by 12. But what he didn't teach her was romance, and flirting. Which made her either very aware of it and with a distaste towards it. Or just not noticing of it.

Arcane smiled, answering every question she threw at him. "No, no girlfriend. My curfew isn't for another hour... but most of my friends don't know that. I sorta over-exaggerate the strictness of my parents, sometimes, so I can get out of doing things when I'm too bored or it's too stupid to bother doing. I figured I'd take my favorite way home," he explained. "Well, my second favorite," Arcane decided to add as a bit of a joke only he would understand at the moment. "Usually I walked through that alley back there that I saw you walk out of.... I knew this old man who lived in one of the houses. Real nice and everything, the usual old guy. But he disappeared, as well as a few other residents in the area. So, I steer clear of it, now. I heard some guy saw a mugger in there a few times the nights they disappeared." Pausing the conversation, he added, "That's actually why I originally walked up to you... well... one of the reasons...," he laughed. "I just wanted to warn you. I warn everyone I see walking in and out of there. Some people I warn, though, never came out the other end, according to the news."

Jackie's eyes narrowed. "So why tell me. A possible drug dealer that your curfew isn't to an hour? And if you dont like what they do why are they your friends?" She asked. Her act casual and a bit logical than the suspicious thoughts she was feeling.
Jackie didn't do anything when he spoke of deaths. Her suspicion growing. "I don't remember hearing of this. Then again this is New York and it is common to die in alleys." She shrugged "thanks for the warning. But no thanks. If I die then it must be fate." Her words and act meany nothing. Ha. Attacking her would be like suicide.

(You know, if you want to, we could make it Arcane who was the monster in her closet when she was little. The description fits.)
"Well, you don't look like a drug dealer and I have no reason to be suspicious of you," Arcane pointed out, laughing. Staring on, he knew it was a lie. He had every reason to be suspicious of her. As if her many questions and constant studying of him wasn't enough, he'd just witnessed her attack a monster on his territory and it's only hope of survival was to flee. "They're my friends because we grew up together. My mother used to babysit most of them, some of the others went to preschool with me. We were always together, always playing when we were little. It's hard to not be their friend and them my own." Zoning out again, he thought of his real mother, long since deceased by a rather gruesome way... Arcane being the gruesome part about it.
When he heard something about Fate, Arcane flashed back to reality. "Fate..." he grumbled, sourly.

(ohh good idea xD lol maybe he can help her 'hunt down' the killer of her parents only to find out it was actually him xD)
Jackie rolled her eyes "If I looked like a drug dealer wouldn't I get arrested?" she asked with a laugh. Her blue eyes locked onto his face looking for any reason to inject the poison in him. At night Jackie tended to be more dangerous, possibly because she was a bit more afraid of finding her new family dead once more by dark shadowy monsters.
The way he said fate made her feel less suspicious. As if something clicked in her mind. Her eyebrow raised "Do you have something against fate?" she asked as she looked at the mall exit wondering wether or not she should continue walking around aimlessly or start heading home.

(but once Jackie found out he was a monster... wouldn't she just try to kill him? Especially since he's sorta kinda trying to get her alone then kill her?)
Arcane smiled, though he didn't laugh. Turning his head to find she was studying him yet again, he met her eyes with his own. They seemed... familiar, somehow, as if he'd seen them before. Then again, Arcane had met and killed so many mortals, he was bound to have seen eyes similar to Jackie's.
When she tried digging into his past, Arcane laughed. "You really do like to ask a lot of questions, don't you?" Turning back in front of him, he stared on, hands in his jacket pockets. "It's... a little personal," he explained, not wanting to go into detail. Especially since the fate he was thinking of were the Three Fates. They'd tormented mortals and monsters, alike, for ages, longer than he could remember - which was a pretty long time seeing as how, for a time, he was Charlemagne's closest ally, though that ended when Arcane had finally gotten him alone.
The Fates were cruel, snipping whichever lifelines they felt like without consequence. Vaguely, Arcane wondered if the Fates had any lifelines or if they were truly immortal.

(yup xD it'll make things funner as they try to kill each other)
Jackie laughed "Are you telling me if you had a random guy come up to you, that you wouldn't ask questions. Even though he might be a possible killer or kidnapper." she said with a wink and bright smile. This whole situation she found interesting almost certain something was up with him. People don't normally walk up to you randomly and stick around this long.
For such a reason she started heading out the mall. At least if he was a monster killing him in the cover of the night would create less problems and make life easier...
