Lilli's eyes are a bright shade of light cerulean, faded with a stormy tint of silver. Any hidden or shown emotion is complimented by her expressive eyes, a window into her soul, as one may say, making her feelings easy to read and her piercings glares more intense. One look into Lilli's pale glaucous eyes, and her whole essence is on display.Personality:
The girl's hair is full of split ends and wild strands flying everywhere, due to the lack of care; additionally, Lilli has a tendency to run a hand through her hair when exasperated, which, frankly, is often. The color of her locks varies from sandy to dirty blonde, her messy waves tumbling down her back and shoulders, stray strands of hair swept aside hastily.
Her liking for tidiness apparently does not apply to herself, for it would be impossible to tell, due to her disheveled uniform carelessly slipped on in the morning and sliding her fingers through her hair a few times in compensation for a brush. Lilli stands at a height of 5' 7", but her proud stance adds another foot or so. With a weight of 121 pounds and a BMI of 18.9, she is considered a bit on the skinny side with a lean figure and a tall structure. Her muscles are not evident, but she isn't weak to the point of incapability. Lilli has a good complexion, if not a bit paler than most. Overall, she is healthy.
Lilli's most prominent traits are her misty cerulean orbs, the mirror reflecting her thoughts, propped up on high cheekbones and framed by thin brows. She wears contacts as a result of the snatched moments of daylight furiously pushed to maximum use and the hours disregarded straying into the dark. Glasses annoy her as much as her hair falling into her eyes, causing her thin lips to curve into her signature scowl. If absolutely necessary with no alternatives, Lilli owns a pair of thin black frames.
Lilli isn't exactly known for her geniality, quite the contrary, really. She is rather cold, and her sharp sarcastic tongue makes her unpleasant to talk to sometimes. Temperamental and quick to anger, most do not try to probe closer, instead backing away to a comfortable distance. Others typically view her as rude. She is a very cynical person and can be rather pessimistic and critical about things, easily picking out negative traits and able to find fault with even the most promising topics, sometimes even hypocritical. She also has a natural instinct for profanity, which is not appreciated by the teachers.History:
She is very defensive, not taking insults to things she cares about easily, and it doesn't take much to get her riled up. She is easily frustrated when things don't go her way. Lilli is opinionated and quick to comment, never hesitating to share her beliefs, especially when others' thoughts do not mirror her own. She is fairly stubborn, and will never admit to being wrong, even if it is clear she is, most likely trying to dismiss the topic nonchalantly. Pride and dignity are very important to her. Lilli doesn't have much in life, and is very possessive and jealous as a result. She fears abandonment, and tries to keep a distance from others, afraid to form any sort of relationship. She is constantly denying things, and if mentioned to her, she will probably deny this too.
She is incredibly competitive and vain, never backing out from a challenge no matter the circumstances, and can get very passionate about it when expressing her opinion. Failure is not an option, and she will repeat the same process over and over if necessary to win, no matter how childish. Her solid will and determination is admirable, but often lands her in trouble. She doesn't try to pick a fight, but is easily provoked by the smallest details, which results in an all-out battle, granting her plenty of enemies.
Lilli is independent, tending to rely mainly on herself, although she sometimes wishes she mattered enough for someone else to take care of her. She is a rebel, following her own schedule, skipping class a habit of her; despite that, she always gets her work turned in some way or another. She often turns down assistance from others, refusing to seem weak, isolating herself from the rest of society. She is a social outcast in school, and though she will never show her true feelings, she secretly longs for friendship. As she does not have many friends, she is very accepting of the friends she has, willing to overlook faults. There are a rare few she deems as trustworthy, and to her few friends, her loyalty is undeniable, but she will not follow blindly. She always uses her head and rarely acts recklessly without carefully thinking it over, believing herself to be responsible and sensible.
Accustomed to the cruelty of the world, she is not one to soften the blow, and will deal it full-on with full force, rather disliking to sugarcoat the truth, finding it a pathetic way to spare feelings. She finds hopeless optimism irritating, her honest words may be blunt and discouraging, but she isn't trying to offend on purpose. She tells it exactly like it is, a down-to-earth realist. Despite this fact, she is a secret romantic and gets flustered quickly, inexperienced at the game of love, and completely adores fairytale endings [only slightly wistful that they only occur in fairytales] no matter how corny or sentimental [mind you, she actually likes how melodramatic they are]. This emotional side to her, she has never shown anyone.
Despite her moody demeanor, Lilli can be pleasant, and hold a nice conversation with someone. She acts politely in public, especially near adults and seniors. During her good moods, one may even receive a smile without the usual scorn of her signature sneer. Lilli tries to be sophisticated and proper, but normally fails due to her temper. Organization is one of her strong points, though one may not think so from her rugged appearance as she does not care much about her rumpled uniform and messy hair. She is a bit of a perfectionist and a neat freak and frets over the details, although she is not afraid to get her hands dirty when needed.
In her spare time, Lilli enjoys reading, spending hours in the library at a time. She thinks best within a calm environment and finds too much noise irritating, despite her favorite genre of music being alternative and punk. Another of her favorite hobbies is writing, as her imagination was her only friend back in the public mortal schools. Otherwise, she can most likely be found studying in her dorm or training in fighting and powers. She is usually stressed, and she finds them to be relaxing and a way to take her mind off unpleasant topics.
Lilli is quite intelligent, able to think outside of the box [pessimistically]. Her classes are above grade level, and she is serious about her studies, maintaining an A average. She dislikes some mortal subjects, such as math and science, but still works hard in all of them. She spends a fair amount of time training in her free-time, when she isn't in the mood for books. Math and science limits her self-expression, whereas she can lose herself in the grief and helplessness of a soldier wasting away on the bleeding battlefield or in the freedom flying in the wind as a leaf traveling the world. Seeing as she does not communicate with others very well, Lilli tends to shy away from awkward social situations.
Lilli isn't one for much physical activity, and doesn't play those 'get-down-and-dirty' sports, disgusted by sweat. She has considerable endurance, and her small frame makes her agile and graceful, a compensation for her lack of brute strength. She is more suited for activities relying mainly on reaction time, speed, and brains, rather than muscle power. Lilli is constantly alert [the only exception when immersed in a favorite hobby], watchful for a leg stuck out in front of her path or spitballs flying her way [real mature, guys].
Lilliana Roberts was an existence never intended to exist. She was a mistake, the result of a New York high school graduation party with alcohol snuck in and a god attending the celebration out of boredom disguised as a mortal. Brianna Roberts was that girl, the one everyone loved and hated, the name whispered in awe and spat viciously, the one who got anything she wanted, and was automatically attracted to Proteus's good looks, claiming him as hers.Family:
The god refused to allow an abortion, so Brianna skipped college to raise her daughter. Her parents did not take the revelation well, disowning her. She had to get an occupation, supporting the both of them on a meager salary from the local store. Soon, Brianna became spiteful and demanded to know the deprived information of the beautiful man who lived out of town. When Proteus revealed his true identity, she smacked him and stomped away, much to his surprise, but didn't lay a hand on her. Two days later, Brianna ditched the child when she gained the ability to see through the Mist. She moved to the countryside, and disappeared from this story.
Proteus sent his child to an adoption center up in Maine, and she was later retrieved by a childless pair who longed for a kid. Raised in an rural home, Lilliana attended a small school with the mortals, but friends were hard to come by, due to her blunt words and reluctance to converse with others. Even at the age of 6, she preferred words over people, opting to read in the corner during recess instead of playing outside with the rest. During her time at home, her foster grandparents, a retired elderly pair, directed all attention towards her, and noting her lack of interest for what would be considered entertainment for other kids, taught her academically. Since she didn't particularly enjoy human interaction, she spent most of her time cooped up in her room reading, and soon beginning to write her own stories.
The teasing began in third grade. By now, Lilli had long confirmed her status as a social outcast, but she didn't worry much about it. When the other kids mocked her, she returned with her own sharp retorts, perfectly capable of fending for herself. Her pride became her cover, and developed a hostile air towards others. To relieve her pent-up emotion, Lilli attended a karate class, and with every strike, every kick, anger rolled off of her figure until only she remained, exhausted, confused, and more furious. Why did no one understand her chosen path?
One day, when sitting out on her front porch, scribbling in her notebook, a bird perched on a tree nearby. As she messily sketched a quick design of the creature, she was suddenly hit with a surge of emotion, freedom, and the blue landscape was her home. Rolling green hills and small dots passed under her, and only when the pigeon she spotted earlier flew to her side did she realize she was too flying, and was not a human. When she landed back at the house, she promptly fainted. That was her first encounter with her powers.
Perhaps the discovery activated her true nature as a demigod, for the monsters came as if hunting down a flare. Additionally, she found more powers of hers, such as able to fade into the background [camouflage] or complete invisibility, and the power to summon a bit of water [though it drains a lot of energy] and to breathe underwater. Due to the lack of control over her abilities, her invisibility often flickers when she is asleep, unbeknownst to her conscious self. Two weeks after the discovering of her new abilities, monsters invaded her house at night, but her invisibility hid her from the beasts. Although her scent was strong, she was nowhere to be seen. In irritation, the monsters took her guardians, and Lilli woke up to an empty house.
At first, she was confused, but after a thorough search and contemplating the possibilities, Lilli decided that they had left her, though she hung onto the smallest belief that maybe they just had some emergency business, or maybe they needed to pay a visit to a relative and got caught up in traffic and didn't want to bring her, or maybe they just left because they didn't want her, or maybe they wanted a normal kid, a child that didn't turn into animals [though she had never told them about the incident] or had freaky abnormalities or who was actually friendly or good with people or... The thoughts raced in her mind, tumbling over each other in a mass of panic. A day passed, two, three, they didn't return.
Lilli was adopted into a wealthy family in time for her high school years. In this case, her foster parents' occupations brought more snide remarks and derision, and almost immediately, she was cast out of the social pyramid as a loner. Her new guardians were too preoccupied with their jobs, contrary to the previous pair. Unused to this emptiness, she struck out blindly and built a barrier around herself, further disabling her to get close to others. Her first direct contact with a monster came soon afterwards.
She was driving home from school when a dark blur flashed in front of the windshield. Next thing she knew, the car was flipped onto its side, a trail of fire traveling past her to the oil tank. Her desperate fingers scrambled at the seat beat, unclasped it, then dove out of the car as the vehicle burst in an explosion of smoke and flame. When Lilli came to her senses and regained her feet, a few yards away stood a huge, black... dog. Its crimson eyes convinced her to run, which she did, and it bounded after her easily with big leaps. She unwisely glanced back to see the hellhound gaining on her, and in a panic, her foot stumbled, and she was sent sprawling onto the ground. Pain shot up her scraped arm, but it was of little significance compared to the beast that was nearly upon her. However, a satyr intercepted the monster, and defeated the creature. When he turned to check on Lilli, she was already gone, having sprinted back to the house, adrenaline and fear fueling her on.
Her guardians didn't pay much attention, not even bothering to ask about her injuries, only giving her a glance of disapproval when she told them about the car. Lilli dismissed the incident as a hallucination, but nonetheless took up fencing as a hobby out of precaution.
In her second year of high school, the bullying increased significantly. Lilli tried to ignore the jeers as much as possible, but one day snapped under stress and fury. After throwing a boy into the lockers and breaking his leg and collarbone in three different places, she was suspended from school. Her guardians, upon hearing this, finally reacted by returning her to the adoption center, unable to allow such a thing to blemish their reputation. As soon as they officially disowned her, Lilli watched as they proceeded to request new adoption papers, and couldn't help but feel a sharp ache in her heart as they took home another girl about her age. Was it really that hard to stay with her?
