They say the early bird gets the worm... Danielle O'Connor, was the daughter of Hades. Her piercing blue eyes distant as she gazed across the courtyard at 4 in the morning. She may be early this morning, but she couldn't sleep. Dani was a restless sleeper, she slept a total of about 5 hours each day, maybe less, seldom more. Which should be unhealthy. But the problem was it was impossible for her to sleep longer. She would lay on her bed for hours and stare at the ceiling thinking of everything, of the world. She wondered if she even belonged in this world. Her father was in fact ruler of the Underworld, did her misfortunes on the surface mean underneath it would be better? Such thoughts occupied her mind, but yet she had never thought of actually going there, she had no interest. Not yet. Blonde hair blowing in the wind she watched a dark shadow approach. She didn't turn to face the person who was approaching. She just waited. Unsure of wether to ask who they were, or what they wanted.

Pyre had been out for a walk, trying to get his mind off things. One of his best friends were dead, now, and he wondered it would have set his mind at ease had he avenged her death. He'd killed before - what'd he have to lose? His sanity? Already on the brink. His friends? They all seemed to die, he wondered how long his current ones would last. His position as Dorm Leader? He'd already failed to protect Max - a daughter of the minor gods, thus his responsibility. He deserved to have the position taken from him.
As much as he wanted to close himself off, however, he knew he had to find a distraction. He'd tried seclusion last time and his sanity suffered for it - he knew that. He had to retain his usual carefree image to both others and himself. Not paying attention to exactly who, he walked up to the nearest demigod, which were few in the early hours of the morning, most still in their dorms. "Hi," he said, a smile being forced to his expression, masking his sorrow.

(sorry on mobile ) Dani heard the voice, her eyes narrowing. Not familiar, but not hostile. Voice smooth she turned to face him with pale blue eyes "Hello. Who are you?" she said eyes narrowing and getting straight to the point. "And what exactly are you doing awake at this time of day?" she added to her questioning studying the boy. Now that she watched him, she believed she had seen him a couple times around the school. His name didn't come to mind though she knew he was friends with the dead girl and the obnoxious son of Poseidob. This boy, she thought, was the minor gods cabin leader, and possibly just as air headed as the other boy which she had seen from afar and disliked.

Pyre, though remaining sociable and kind, was taken slightly aback by the girl's questioning tone, recognizing her as the Hades Dorm Leader. "I'm Pyre," he replied, nicely, casually crossing his arms. "Oh, just out for a walk," he smiled, brightly, which greatly conflicted with the emotions which shone through his eyes if you looked deep enough. Turning the questions around, though in a much kinder tone, he asked, "And what about you; what are you doing out so early?"

Dani's eyes narrowed "Well I suppose it's nice to know your name and officially meet you. I'm Dani," she said simply. Studying his smile made her frown "What is wrong with you? You're like emotionally conflicting how do you smile and look like a troubled person." she said a bit snappy. That was Dani, direct to the point. She didn't bother attempting to sound nice for people, they deserved to know the truth about what she is thinking. Not the sugar coated version.
"I'm always up at this time," she said flatly. Studying the boy with a clear frown. She didn't dislike him. But the fact he was soo cheery was questionable when clearly he must be depressed over the death of the girl. One of his friends.

Pyralis smiled, warmly, doing his best to ignore Dani's rudeness. Then, with her next comment, he realized he wasn't hiding his emotions as well as he perhaps should be when trying to move on and take his mind off things. "There's a lot going on," came his simple response, accompanied, still, by a friendly smile. He felt like he needed to talk to someone about what happened but, while he was perfectly fine socializing with anyone he came across, sharing his emotions with them just wasn't very appealing. Maybe he'd talk to Garret? Well, once he was ready. After all, it was his girlfriend that was killed. He probably needed some space.
Seeking to abandon the subject as quickly as possible, he tried to think of something to talk about, though nothing great came to his mind. "So you're always up at four in the morning?" he asked, finally.

Dani nodded "Yes. But why force a smile and try to fool people with your creepy conflicting face when we all know you cared about the girl who just died," she told him plainly. Her expression wasn't rude. She was just telling him her thoughts, unlike Pyre of it was her friend who was killed she would be honest with the world and show how she felt, she would rage or cry, or do whatever she felt. I mean you have one life to live? Why try to complicate it?
Dani shrugged "Or earlier," she said with a shrug. Obviously this girl wasnt one to lie much. "It depends on when I sleep. If I go to skeet early I wake up early. Like if I sleep at eight ill wake up around 1." the Hades child though didn't look the slightest bit tired or sleepy. In fact her light blue eyes looked wide awake and fully rested.

"Because I don't want to bother people with my problems," he replied. "And, trust me, I've got way more than you think." Pyre was one of the most popular kids in school. He and his friends were the top of the food chain though, unlike the stereotypical 'cool kid', he didn't step on people to get there. He got along with everyone, typically. Most of the other students saw him as a great person. Who wouldn't? He was nice to everyone and listened to their problems if they gave him a chance.
He didn't play favorites with anyone and he wasn't a strict Dorm Leader. But he never goes to anyone for his own problems unless it directly concerns them, as well. No one's heard him complain and he always seems to be in a good, happy mood. But he was constantly on the brink yet still managed to keep it all hidden. His past, his insanity, his real emotions; it was all masked by his charm and cheer. He didn't let anyone in. He managed to tell people just enough to satisfy their curiosity about him but not enough to reveal anything - not even to Garret, his best friend since he'd arrived in the school years ago. He had trust issues - major trust issues - and no one knew. And he'd make sure no one did. Why bother others with his problems? He'd rather help them with their own.

"Ah well whatever issue you have going on is bothering me, so if your angry don't bother forcing a smile," she told him not really caring for whatever problem he had internally but caring for the mere fact it annoyed her when people bottled up their emotions. It made them unstable and ready to explode which she did not appreciate.
Danielle was in a sense Pyre's opposite. Not many were fond of her, then again not many knew her. She stayed away from drama and others upon her arrival, shadow traveling in and around easily. The daughter of Hades went by unnoticed and unbothered. Not only for the fact she was daughter of Hades and a fan of the darkness, but because she was upfront, if she didn't like you or she felt mad she wouldn't force a smile. Sure she was clever and witty, and when necessary could become unreadable, but she seldom tried to act nice unless she truly liked someone to the point they have earned that kindness.
Danielle wasn't one to complain much, mostly due to the fact she believed in action, and because their wasn't really much to complain about. Unlike most hot headed, and rude people she was clear minded. She was only rude because she never sugar coated the truth. She never masked her feelings because she didn't find it necessary, why complicate life when you only have one she would think?

Pyre smirked, nodding. It made sense, he supposed, and he'd follow orders but that didn't change anything. Deciding to move on to more comfortable subjects, he asked, "So how long have you been here?" He knew of her and knew she wasn't completely new, but he didn't know anything about her or her time, here. He was curious to see if she'd been here for long or had simply gotten the cabin leader duty because there was no one else qualified at the time.
He had seniority over most other students in the school and, of all the minor gods children, he was at SCA the longest. So, naturally, he was appointed as Cabin Leader a few years ago when the previous one left their post.

Danielle paused for a moment studying Pyre quietly before responding "A couple months or a year by now. Since about October through December last year. I'm not entirely sure, I don't bother keeping track of time here. It tended to be queer," so told him with a shrug.
The daughter of Hades hadn't been here very long. But she hadn't just arrived. She couldn't remember much of dates, maybe a weak point, but not one she cared for. Honestly the only dates she remembered were New Years and maybe a couple holidays, but other than that...she didn't really even remember her own birthday until the end of the day when she realizes she is in fact a year older.

Nodding, Pyre looked up at the sky, only a small hint of orange tinting the sky at the horizon. The sun wouldn't be in the air for another couple hours but already it was giving off light. "Time's important," he said, emptily. His mind was still on Max with the references to time. Max was all he could think about at the moment, really. Pyre no longer saw her in any romantic way but she had still been a close friend and despite the small amount of anger and jealousy he had harbored toward her and Garret, he would have trusted her with his life. She was a friend but now... she's gone. He'd have to move on - what else was there? He still had Garret to talk to and make life bearable. And there was still the hope of new friends in the future. It's always a possibility.

Danielle shrugged "Not in my perspective, time comes and goes. It's the memories during it that stay and count," watching the sky peek into the horizon she stood up from her earlier seat on a courtyard bench watching the morning approach. But now that it was here...she knew others would be rising to greet the morning sun, and frankly she didn't want there to be a chance she ran into more troubled people, because at this rate she would end her day in a sour mood. Sure she felt sorry for Max, but everybody had to die, some sooner than others, and honestly Danielle couldn't careless because of the fact even dead, they aren't completely gone. Just not available to the people alive.

Memories. Pyre had plenty of those, some of which he wished he could forget. He'd been only a couple minutes away from Max. Had he taken his usual walk that day, he might have been close enough to help. Maybe then, Shade wouldn't have had the chance to kill her. Maybe then, Garret wouldn't have plunged into a state of depression. Maybe then, Max would still be alive. At this point, racked with grief, Max was one of those memories he wished would disappear. Maybe then, he wouldn't feel so hollow.
Every positive emotion has been forced since her death. Pyre couldn't keep up the charade for long. He'd crack; he'd break down; he'd lose his sanity if he continued. Still, he worried for Garret, his best friend who was probably feeling even worse at the moment. He wondered if he, too, couldn't get any sleep. If he'd been awake every night since her death. But the past cannot be changed, only forgotten. And that's what Pyre hoped to do. It's what he attempted to do the first time. It was a flaw in his personality. He cared too much for others he disregarded his own well-being and it was slowly driving him closer to the edge. All he could do was wait. Wait for the fall he knew was ahead but refused to acknowledge. Instead, he'd continue to help others as he always did and that was something unlikely to change.
Seeing Dani rise from her seat, he supposed the conversation was nearing an end. "So, I guess you're gonna walk away, now?" he asked. She was a daughter of Hades - introverted. He could tell she didn't want to talk more than she had to so he took a step back. "See you later, then," he grinned, waving, turning slowly before walking away. He'd return to his dorm and try to get some sleep before everyone else woke up. Maybe he'd manage another hour, tonight, but just as likely was the possibility of staring at the ceiling for that hour, wondering whether or not he should have gotten revenge on Shade while he could rather than letting him get away. Or maybe there was a way he could have kept Max out of danger. Maybe he could have helped her? The son of Hades couldn't have been too powerful for the two of them to take, together, could he? He'd never know for certain, but the thoughts still haunted him. That's two close friends dead, now, in his relatively short lifetime. Who was next?
No one. Not anymore. He wouldn't let his friends die. Their lives from here on out would be as positive as Pyre could make them. If anyone posed a threat to them, he'd be sure to take them out. Whether that be another death or simply intimidation, he didn't care. Max's death changed him, made him a few degrees colder. He'd keep his kind reputation for now but if anyone threatened him or his friends, he'd be more than willing to throw that reputation away to make sure that person stayed out of their way.

(it's fine. Sorry for the short post. I've been super busy...)
Danielle raised an eyebrow "Well, I would offer you to enter my domain, being seeing as that I don't really know you. And you seem busy I suppose this may or may not be the last time we speak," she told him flatly.
Honestly Danielle was going to offer to go some where that didn't include many people, mostly because they irritated her. And Danielle didn't enjoy being irritated, then again, who would? But seeing as that he was leaving she had no need to really persue him. He probably had things to do, plus, speaking to the daughter of Hades wasn't too exciting.
