Terry stared at him for a moment. Then he broke into a laugh and waved him off. "A shell? Hey, I'm still in here, even if I'm not as happy as usual. It didn't go the way we wanted, but I'm sure I'll get it over with once it's all over." He looked up at the cloudless sky provided by the boundary of Camp Half Blood. "Yeah, ignorance...Kayden, Jasper, Shade, and then Lauren." He sighed. "What do you think went wrong? Even if we were ignorant..."

Matt frowned thoughtful. "I think it was the combination of us being naive, and secrets. We all kept stuff hidden, even the gods. Apollo knew what was going on. Or at least it seemed cause Lauren just so happened to know exactly what we had coming at us. Maybe a warning would've saved her. Then there was the whole monster incident. And the owls swapping our powers..." he said as he patted Patriot's head.

"Kept stuff hidden." He repeated. He sat up, looking over at the son of Dionysus. "You don't think...Shade knew what was going on to him, do you? This quest seemed so pointless, with no objective or meaning. We just went where we had to go...but for what purpose? Why? What did we gain? From all I can see, we only lost." Terry was ever the optimist, but it was really hard to look at the bright side for this one.

Matt was silent for a moment in thought "It's for the long run. I don't believe Shade knows. But I think Hades does. I think Hades is behind most of this. Shade was to...genuinely...innocent to know. The Shade we knew wouldn't act like the Shade he woke up one night to be. I think the whole point of the quest was so that the gods could set things in motion. How is it that this quest just ends and suddently tensions spark up between Persephone and Hades? I'm not sure whats going on. But I think this quest involved a representative from both sides, both gathering information. I think Shade was Hades's representative, but I'm not sure who is Persephone's. It could be you or Kathrine, or maybe even me. We wouldn't know because like Shade maybe one day we will wake up just suddenly different"

"We were unlucky, getting picked to go. It changed all of us." Terry sighed, his heart aching as Matt gave his opinion on his best friend, it was hard to believe that the gentle boy had transformed into a cold blooded murderer. "He's still in there. He will come back." The son of Hermes said confidently, "I don't know how long it'll take, but he will." Or at least he hoped it would turn out like that. He missed him. Everyone that had died couldn't be brought back. The son of Hades still had a chance, no matter how small.

Matthew nodded agreeing. "Yes, there has definitely been a change. Which is quite unfortunate for you and Kat," he grinned "Cause before we left I swear you guys would have finally got together and made the Aphrodite cabin stop waiting." he said with a laugh.
Matthew sighed. "Yeah...but you can't be sure. We didn't know him before camp so we don't know which Shade is the real Shade..."

Terry looked over at Matt, his grin returning, widening. "Hey! Was it that obvious?" They had both decided to concentrate on the matters at hand simply because if something happened to one of them, it would hurt less. Once it was all done, whatever "it" was, they could concentrate on each other. The son of Hermes was definitely going to keep Kat alive through this whole process, and he had to be alive in the end to see it through.
Terry nodded to agree with Matt. "Shade had quite some life before....I wonder how this all happened. He's such a mystery." He narrowed his eyes in puzzlement. "Lived in the Underworld, then with my brother somehow, camp, then all over again at the start."

Matt laughed "The question is rather when is it not obvious?" he grinned. If any couple excited the Aphrodite cabin it was Terry and Kat. The two were supposed to finally come together but the quest popped up to Aphrodite's annoyence. Ten years of building it up and a couple months put it all on hold.
Matt nodded "it's when I see Shade, or Zeke, or somebody else who doesn't know their past. I realize how lucky we are to have only had about 7 years outside camp so our history isn't too bad or too complicated..." he told Terry "And mine is probably the calmest."

Terry blushed slightly at Matt's tease, smiling in embarrassment. "Oh, well too bad for the children of the Love Goddess. Now's not the time for that, really." He looked over at the son of Dionysus with a nod. "We've both been here for a really long time. You, you're probably the most experienced camper here. I can't even keep up with you. Your status helps things like your prank today. So tell me, are you even going to consider fixing up at least some of the cabin or take responsibility for it?" The son of Hermes crossed his arms, raising a brow at his friend.

Matt shrugged. He wasn't a victim of Aphrodite so he just viewed it all the same. Then laughed "Well surely the soon of Hermes could fix his own post office? Not have the son of wine do so," he grinned. "I mean expect a bigger mess than a repaired cabin. We are loopy drunk children!" he laughed. it was a joke, no doubt. sure they liked wine. But i=they couldn't get drunk. At least not easily.

Terry laughed, "Yeah, I guess a bunch of dizzy crazy teens ripping apart our cabin and attacking us isn't the best thought. But still, our whole cabin got remodeled because the wine made everything float everywhere. Not to mention that everything is dyed purple. Dude, I bet the Aphrodite girls are jealous of our cabin now."

Matthew grinned "Purple is a good color on you. The Aphrodite cabin is thanking me for doing you a favor," he teased with a laugh.

"Yeah? Well I don't agree," Terry replied with a huff, trying his best not to smile. "Aww, come on! You're really not gonna help? Dude, you fricking dyed my cabin a pinkish purple! Our taste in color is, like, the opposite of the Aphrodite cabin."

Matthew laughed at Terry. Patriot padding off with the ball getting bored. "Don't complain. At least you guys can walk in style now. Plus if I walk into your cabin right now I'd be tempted to bring the Aphrodite cabin for...summer cleaning," he grinned

Terry shook his head, his grin widening in amusement. "Oh no, please don't. I don't think the Aphrodite cabin likes us. We pull plenty of makeup pranks on them. Especially the girls, they always seem to be glaring."
