Cascade silently entered the Mess Hall, immediately spotting Ellyse. She plopped down across from the table Ellyse sat at. Even though there were campers, she felt rather alone. Having her half-sister sit across from her was like an honor-assurance that she wasn't alone. Pausing her music and taking out her earphones, she offered Ellyse a small smile. The first smile. Ellyse was breathing heavier than usual, probably because what started out as a slow jog turned out to a full out sprint due to too much excitement. It was rather comical, so Cascade let out a chuckle. The first laugh. Cascade looked up into her sister's big blue eyes and smiled. She hoped that with her sister, she could share many more smiles with others, even if she wasn't doing it right.
Clearing her throat, Cascade began pouring out her past to Ellyse, bit by bit. Her sister would be the one she could rely on to listen to her and such, because Ellyse was such a pure-hearted sweetheart. She took out her sketchbook to help out with her words, because her English stumbled a little bit. She drew images of darkness with figures fighting, and tried to explain in her second language what was happening. Living with her Chinese mother made her speak Chinese before English; after all, her father couldn't exactly...be around.
She looked up briefly from her sketchbook to make eye contact with Ellyse and assess her reactions. Looking down at her sketchbook again, she was surprised to see food right in front of her. Furrowing her brows, she was also astonished by her ability to suddenly feel so many emotions. There was something about Ellyse that just, well, calmed her. She felt at her best when she was around her sister. Beginning on another sketch, she blocked out the world after recently experiencing it.
