Pyre had been regretting the dance since the night he went, when he found Max had decided to go with both him and Garret. So, after weeks of anger, then guilt, then regret, then more anger, then sympathy, as well as more emotions, he decided to apologize for putting all the pressure on her after talking with Garret the day before.
So, he left a note on her bed while she was out of the dorm. It simply said to meet him at the Theatre at 4:30. He hadn't signed it, but he didn't feel he needed to. Who else would it be? With all the scorn she was getting, there wouldn't be many people who would want to talk to her. Then again, Pyre probably wasn't high up on the list of people she would expect to see talking to her.
But, he figured their friendship ended in the Theatre, so it midas well begin, again, within it. So, he arrived at 4:15 and sat in a corner, on a bench that was placed against the wall, and waited for her to arrive, guilt growing with every moment.

Max had received the note that day. Having at first believed it was from Garret she wondered what he had on his mind that day. But the longer she stared at it the more she noticed how it wasn't from Garret. Rather someone else...which made her curious to who it was.
It could be a trick. It could be another mess. It could be anything. But she didn't think it was Pyre. He was still had at her. Wasn't he???
As desired she appeared in the theatre. The note folded and in her pocket as she peeped the door open. The cold air blowing in with Max, who was currently in jeans and a hoodie since it was her free period and a Friday. Her ivy eyes narrowed slightly as she looked around. Her eyes suddently falling onto Pyre. She looked at the clock then looked back at the paper. It was his handwriting! How didn't she notice before???
"Hello Pyre..." she said cautiously.

Pyre smiled as warmly as he could when Max entered. He'd been so cruel and unforgiving since the dance. Rising from his seat, he slowly walked toward Max, ashamed of the way he'd treated her. "Hey, Max," he said in nearly a whisper as he neared her. "I'm... I'm sorry." He'd said it. He wanted to get it out of the way, wanting to go back to the way things were as quickly as possible. Sure, he didn't look at her with love in his heart, anymore, but he still wanted to restore their friendship. They were once inseparable. Now, it seemed like it would have to take a miracle to get them to talk to each other.

Max stared at him frozen in shock. It was him. And was he apologizing? For what?...other than the unnecessary coldness, he was just. Or in her eyes he was...
"For what? You didn't do anything wrong. It was all me..." she told him relaxing slightly. Her ivy eyes watching him with confusion, shock, curiosity, and...regret. she regretted hurting him. He was her best friend. And she practically tore their friendship in half...

Pyre shook his head, trying to grin but, knowing it probably looked forced, stopped. "I pinned so much pressure on you and got so mad at you for not being able to decide. I can't blame you. I mean, hey, me and Garret are both pretty awesome guys... y'know, especially me," he laughed, adding the last part as a joke. He didn't know what to say, next. He didn't want to make her think he still loved her but he didn't want to seem cold towards her, either. He wanted to be friends, just as they used to be. "It just... I understand why you didn't choose one of us and I'm fine with what you did. Sure, it hurt when I found out... but it's over, now, and I want things to go back to the way they were - me, you, and Garret going everywhere together and doing everything together. We were such great friends and people actually even envied us for being so close. No matter what happened, we always managed to overcome it and... now... I hope we can overcome this."

Max nodded "it still wasnt your fault. I should have told you guts i couldn't decide..." she said honestly looking up at Pyre.
"We can overcome this...but the future wont be the same..." she said honestly. Whenever she tries to jump into the future now she feels sick and can only go a couple months forward. Not mun before she nearly faints. The past is fine...but she cant seem to go into the future anymore...

Pyre laughed. "Oh, yeah, Miss Know-It-All Time Traveler," he grinned, making sure Max knew it was all a joke. "Look, me and Garret are already back to how we were, friends and everything. All that's missing is you." Sitting down, again, on a cushioned seat that faced the stage, he looked up at Max, motioning for her to sit. "I don't care about the future, I want to live in the present and not worry about what's ahead." Pausing, he added, "Besides, what's the worst that could happen? The only thing that's going to be different is Garret being a teacher."

Max smiled at Pyre's joke. "Well I think the only thing then we haven't mended is us. And hopefully we can go back to be just best friends," she told him referring to only Pyre and Max. Since her relationship with Garret had grown to be more.
Mac shrugged "I'm not sure...but the future is super sketchy right now. I can't go into it much...not like before," she said honestly with a shrug.

Pyre nodded, then thought for a moment about what Max had said. "Wait, only us? You mean you and Garret are already back to the way you were?" he asked, completely oblivious to the fact Max and Garret were more than just friends.
Pyre remembered when he had gone ten years into the future earlier that year, then into the colonial past for a day. Now, Max was saying she wasn't able to travel very far. "It's probably just stress or something," he said, trying to reassure her. "After all, with everything that's been going on, your powers are probably paying the price."

Max paused thinking her words through carefully. Not wanting to hurt Pyre "Me and Garret have been good for a while..." she said shrugging honestly. Now how gold she wouldn't say. But good was the truth.
She frowned unsure how to take his reply. "Well, normally you don't get blocked out of your future..." she said honestly. Jot unless you had no future. And she did have one cause her father had told her she wouldn't die young a couple months ago . Or wasn't suppose to.

Pyre laughed. "That would be Garret - always one to make up to any girl. No wonder they all love him - they always win the arguments!" Smiling, he rose from his seat, seeing that Max hadn't sat down, as well, and didn't want to be constantly looking up at her. "So, everything is fine between us? The past is forgotten? The dance never happened?" he asked, eyes locked on Max's. His smile was warm and friendly but, inside, he was broken and was hoping repairing their friendship would repair his sanity, as well.

Max shifted hissing her discomfort from his words. Then he got up his bright smile activating her own "Better than before the dance," she replied. Not wanting to say anything about her relationship nor lie to him since he would probably not forgive her this time. She spread her arms infront of her stretching "I'm glad we are cool now," she said honestly.

Pyre nodded. "So am I," he smiled, carefree and kind. Then, walking past, he grinned. "Well, I'd better go, I'm really sorry. I don't mean to apologize and run off - I swear - it's just that I'm really busy today and the apology couldn't wait 'til tomorrow." Shrugging, his smile was a bit sheepish as he apologized. "I promise we will hang out. I really am busy." He felt so bad for saying sorry then running off. It seemed so mean. After their friendship crumbled, life had been horrible. He hoped Max would understand his quick apology. After all, she knew how busy he was from before the dance because of all the things he was involved in. Between Minor Gods Dorm Leader, helping set up for Choir and Bands, and other littler things around the school - plus a little time for himself - he never seemed to have much time on his hands. When he did, though, he always spent it with friends. Now, that spare time was over and he had to go. Waving goodbye and his eyes still saying sorry, he turned and exited the Theatre through the main doors and out toward the dorm.

Max grinned "Definently," she said missing the times when they hung out. Sighing she waved him goodbye "I understand. You a busy guy Mr. Extracurriculum volunteer," she flashed a smile at him as he rushed out. And after a few moments of thinking their meeting through walked out towards the library.
