[Pyralis Demos]

Julien walked slowly toward the plant, wondering how something couldn't die. He didn't say anything, he just stared. Then, after a while, he turned to Lauren. "At least she could use her powers even if they screwed up. I'd love to be able to do something like that."

(I'm thinking when he hears Lauren died, he'll finally use his powers - which are sorta gonna follow his emotions, for now - though I'm not sure how...)

Lauren’s eyes narrowed “I believe your powers will come in. It just takes a different feeling to be felt by your spirit. Kat made messes. This is the harmless, she used to accidentally wrap cabins in vines and make flowers talk non-stop. Matt the Dionysus cabin leader always cleaned up her messes…” she grinned

(Ohh that will be soon Lauren is dying in the ‘Jetting Off’ thread as soon as the Python attacks and Lauren comes in and fights a bit.)

Julien grinned at the thought but he knew Lauren still didn't understand. "Yes, but that's not the point. I would love to screw up my powers and wrap cabins in vines and make flowers talk without being able to shut them up." Sighing, he began walking out of the cabin, right past Lauren without even a glance toward her. "I can't do anything. I can't use my powers correctly. I can't use them incorrectly. I can't do any of this." Looking over his shoulder, he asked, "Do you know of anyone else like that?"

Lauren smiled. “No. But I knew someone.” She shrugged. Pulling up a sleeve. Long scars running up her arm “That was my old life. And no, they are not from monsters,” she told him flatly. Lauren before going to camp had a rather…hidden past. She never talked about it. And she wasn’t going to now. Not even Chiron knows of it. Lauren though would admit before reaching camp she couldn’t feel peace. She was wild, she was definently not someone to be proud of. She hid her past and just pretended to be this mask for everyone else’s sake. She knew the talks she would get if she ever went back to who she was. Her father having saved her from a Python she was fighting without powers before meeting him. Her powers awakened when she found out she wasn’t alone in the world, it was like she had to be in a state of peace for them to work. She was never one to die without a fight, and rather she continued. At the time her hair was cut short and barely touching her shoulders, it was also a jet black. Her father changed the color as well touching it and making it a light warm brown as he soon brought peace through her. He opened her eyes to who she really was and after a lot of therapy sessions with some of the breezes she went to the camp and has lived there since.

Julien stopped, staring at the scars, though he pulled his eyes away once he realized he was being a bit impolite. He didn't know what to say. He realized he was probably the first to be shown the scars, the remnants of Lauren's past life. "I-I'm sorry I yelled, just now," he said, though the 'yelling' he spoke of was him talking only slightly louder than usual. He just felt like he should apologize for something, whether he did anything or not. "It's just... so frustrating. Everyone here uses their powers like they're normal - nothing special. When you don't have any, you realize just how special a person with them is. You all just seem to... to take them for granted."

Lauren shrugged "Dont apologize. I don't regret it, because of it I try to please my dad so much," she told him honestly. Because he saved her and made her spirit relax this bringing her powers she felt eternally grateful and in need of making him proud. But in the process she was killing her own spirit. It was like pleasing her father took destroying herself. Which wasn't surprising since who she was wasn't anywhere near who she is. From drug addiction to depression to cutting herself Lauren has felt all sorts of emotions, but such emotions helped her know she was alive. And now that she was away from them she wasn't so sure. But she didn't want to go back to the sloppy, black haired, guitarist she was, she didn't want to go back to sleeping in random friends houses and taking turns in garages playing for some money. But she wasn't ready to become something she wasn't either. She wasn't ready to remember why she accepted Apollo, and why she was up on Mnt Rushmore pretty much attempting suicide.

Julien nodded to show he'd heard her as he had nothing to say. What was he supposed to say? So, instead, he lingered at the door, unsure of what to do. He didn't want to walk away and act as if nothing had happened, that day. At the same time, he didn't want to stay in an awkward silence. So, he changed the subject. "So, what can you do?" he asked, wanting to know more about her powers. It seemed like Apollo's only gifts were archery and medicine. He'd never seen anything else. The Apollo cabin was good at chariot racing, too, usually, but he wasn't sure if that was inherited from their father or just them working hard at it.

Lauren smiled "Nearly everything." she told him making a orb of light appear and float in front of her. Then touch the ceiling and spread of like a beam of light. "Control over sunlight and light," she told him. Then she took out a knife and gently pierced her skin letting it bled "Healing small wounds," she said as the blood stopped flowing and her skin returned to normal. Pausing for a moment to re-energize she then walked over and touched his arm, the heat would make him sweat for a moment as if the sun was blazing down. Then stopping she paused. Taking a quick break "Heat. Very useful...the last is a bit harder and takes a great deal of energy." she told him.

Julien was awed at all the possibilities Lauren had. Control over light, heat, and health was amazing. "So it's not just shooting an arrow, huh?" he laughed, arm still hot. It was a strange feeling, hot arm but the rest of his body being cold. "So Apollo kids can make light, heat and heal people. Demeter kids can apparently grow freaks of nature," he said, pointing toward the undying plant on the table against the wall, "and make flowers talk." If that really was all a Demeter kid could do, he'd rather be Apollo's child. But he knew he had potential, or so he liked to believe. And after seeing what Tina had done during the battle, he was a bit scared of discovering his powers.

She grinned "Naturally. We tend to be more skilled. They say Apollo is like all gods in one. Romantic like Aphrodite. Great Long Range Fighter like Ares. Creative like Hephaestus. Talented like Athena. God of the Sun, which is one of the most important things. But he's also the loneliest god, he's the only god not married or in a long lasting relationship I believe. That's not counting the virgin goddesses..." she told him. Laughing at his comment she said "You'd be surprised by what Kat can do! I can't wait until she returns, she can help you alot you know." she told him grinning.

"What about Hermes? I don't think he's in any sort of relationship," Julien said, hoping to make it seem like Apollo wasn't so alone. "Yeah, I can't wait for Kat to return, either. I'd like to meet my Cabin Leader," he laughed, brown eyes shining. He really did want to meet Kat, though. He didn't like being temporary Cabin Leader when he doesn't even know what he's doing. Sure, he gets a lot of help. But it's still a tough job, even if Tina is the only other kid in there. He also hoped she could help him with his powers. Hopefully, she'd be nice enough to take some time to help him.

"Hermes is married. I forgot her name though..." she told Julien grinning. She had done research in the Greek gods during her therapy months and found some pretty strange stuff. Like how Apollo, Ares, and Hepheastus proposed to Persephone who had a kid with Zeus and slept with Hermes before being kidnapped. Her kidnapping being Zeus's idea.

"Hmmm... well what about- no, virgin goddess, never mind. What about Ares? The only relationship he has is with Aphrodite but she's married to Hephaestus so I'm not sure if the affair really counts as a relationship," he said, hopefully.

Lauren rolled her eyes "A century long affair would definently count," she said laughing. The affair was probably longer but Lauren wasn't going to give exact dates since she didn't even know them.

"A century long?" Julien laughed. "Even I know it's been going on for longer than that." It was funny how two people could be so serious one moment and laughing the next.
